Prep Baseball Louisiana: 2026 Game of the Week (Alexandria Senior High vs. Acadiana)

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

The 2026 Louisiana high school baseball season officially gets rolling today, as teams across the state take the field with clean slates and championship aspirations. With every record sitting at 0–0, opening week always carries a sense of possibility—and here at Prep Baseball Louisiana, it’s easily one of our favorite times of the year. From now until the final out in May, our focus is simple: get to the ballpark, evaluate players in live-game settings, and deliver comprehensive, boots-on-the-ground coverage from around the state. With no events on the calendar during the season, it’s all about game action from start to finish.

That also means the return of our High School Game of the Week, a staple of our in-season coverage that has featured some of the Bayou State’s best matchups in recent years.

Last week's Game of the Week featured Sterlington and St. Amant with the Panthers coming out on top by a score of 3-2 in 9 innings.

This week, we'll be seeing a really good one with Alexandria Senior High taking on Acadiana. The Trojans and Rams are both ranked inside the Top-10 of the Select Division I Power Ratings and this weekend's matchup could provide a preview of the playoffs.

Game of the Week Preview

Our Week 4 Game of the Week might just be a sneak peek at the 2026 LHSAA Select Division I playoffs.

Two red-hot programs square off in a three-game set as Alexandria Senior High (9-2) takes on Acadiana (9-3) in what feels like a heavyweight matchup before district play begins. With this being the final week before the district slate, the winner of this series won’t just claim bragging rights — they’ll carry serious momentum into the stretch run.

Alexandria Senior High

The Trojans have been one of the most consistent teams in the state through the first month of the season. Their 9-2 start includes quality wins over Haughton, Central BR, and Natchitoches Central — and they’ve done it with elite run prevention.

ASH has yet to allow more than four runs in a single game this season.

It all starts with junior RHP Jack Lee.

One of the biggest breakout stories in Louisiana last summer, Lee vaulted onto the scene at the Prep Baseball Future Games before announcing his commitment to LSU in September. He’s carried that momentum into the spring, posting a 1-1 record with a save, a 1.43 ERA, and 26 strikeouts over 14.2 innings. Lee attacks hitters with a riding low-90s fastball and pairs it with a sharp, true 11-to-5 breaking ball in the mid-70s that consistently misses barrels.

The depth behind him has been equally impressive.

Senior Caden Extine is 2-0 with a save and has yet to allow an earned run in 12.1 innings. Senior Trent Hennessey owns a 1-0 record with a 2.10 ERA and 12 punchouts across 13.1 innings. Clayton Doyal has provided quality innings with a 3.32 ERA, and sophomore Austin Hoover has flashed big upside with a 0.81 ERA in limited work.

Offensively, the Trojans are averaging just over seven runs per game.

Junior Bryson Phoenix has been scorching at the top of the order, hitting .441 with a home run, two doubles, five RBI, and 16 runs scored. Extine has also been productive at the plate (.323, 2 2B, 7 RBI), while Jaxon Ross (LSU-Alexandria commit) is hitting .323 with a double, triple, and 11 RBI. Senior Grayson Thibodeaux adds middle-of-the-order power with a home run and three doubles while hitting .310.

ASH has shown balance — dominant pitching, timely hitting, and depth throughout the lineup.

Acadiana

Much like the Trojans, the Rams have exceeded preseason expectations and turned heads statewide with a 9-3 start. Their résumé includes a win over defending state champion Teurlings Catholic and a three-game sweep of Northshore — proof this group is battle-tested.

Pitching has been the backbone.

Acadiana has allowed two runs or fewer in eight of its twelve games and is surrendering just 3.25 runs per contest.

Senior Ty Lamartina has been nearly untouchable.

The former Future Gamer and Northwestern State recruit is 4-0 with a microscopic 0.28 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 25 innings. A fierce competitor and consistent strike-thrower, Lamartina works 88-90 mph with the fastball, but his true separator is a high-spin 76-80 mph slider that generates legitimate swing-and-miss. He’s proven capable of taking over a game.

Senior Jude Feehan has been a steady No. 2, posting a 2-0 record with a 1.91 ERA over 18.1 innings.

The Rams can swing it, too.

Lamartina contributes on both sides, hitting .324 with a home run and 14 RBI. Senior Landon Granger (Nunez CC commit) brings versatility and power with two home runs and 12 runs scored. Camden Guidry (LSU-Alexandria commit) is hitting .333 with eight RBI, and Andre Manrique leads the team with a .359 average to go along with four extra-base hits and 11 RBI.

When Acadiana gets rolling offensively, they can put pressure on opponents in a hurry.

The Bottom Line

Both Alexandria Senior High and Acadiana have silenced any preseason doubts with strong starts and quality wins.

What makes this matchup even more compelling is that both programs compete in Select Division I — meaning this three-game set could be an early playoff preview.

With district play looming, this series carries extra weight. Expect playoff-type intensity, strong pitching matchups, and little margin for error.

Whoever takes this series won’t just win Week 4 — they’ll head into district play with confidence, belief, and momentum.

And if things break right in May, we may be talking about this matchup again.
