Over the next few weeks, leading up to the beginning of the 2026 MD High School season, our staff will be releasing our Preseason Power 25. This list will be comprised of public and private schools across the state that we feel have a strong chance of being successful in 2026.

# 22 Damascus Swarmin' Hornets   

A surprising early exit in last year's 3A state playoffs should have the Swarmin' Hornets motivated and dialed in all spring long in 2026. A team in 2025 loaded with talent on both sides of the ball does see its two top arms and 3, 4, and 5 hitters all graduate; however, a new crop of seniors have all the ability to pick up the slack in 2026. This lineup may not be able to score at the rate it did a year ago, but look for a balanced attack and some underclassmen to rise to the occasion.
