2026 Corvallis Preseason ID - Quick Hits
February 15, 2026
On Saturday February 14th, Prep Baseball Oregon hosted the Corvallis Preseason ID at Goss Stadium, Oregon State University. Prep Baseball scouts evaluated high school athletes in the 2026-2030 graduating classes, with several strong showings throughout the event.
Preseason ID events serve as an identifier heading into the spring high school season, providing Prep Baseball scouts and college recruiters a list of prospects to follow as they plan their spring coverage. We also tend to see prospects’ best performances in the preseason, as most athletes are fresh and coming off of strict and targeted off-season training programs that have resulted in big gains. Standout performances can lead to invitations to some of the summer's biggest invite-only events, including the Pacific Northwest State Games, Prep Baseball Future Games, and more.
Today, we release our Quick Hits, detailing scouting notes on standout performers from the event. Prospects are listed alphabetically by last name. Stay tuned the remainder of this week for all post-event content.
Corvallis Preseason ID
Quick Hits
'29 OF Jacob Bancroft (Central)
Athletic frame with some advanced physicality for freshman status. Bancroft showed tools that could play as he continues to mature in his skillset with a corner OF type profile down the line. Steady actions defensively with shorter strides in the OF. At the plate, the righty took some time to settle in, but once he did Bancroft showed some pop to the pull side with exit velocities up to 95 MPH. The freshman set in an upright, slightly open narrow setup, with a quieter head through the swing and a firm front side with strength through contact. Young player to keep an eye on.
'27 OF Brogan Burgard (Oregon City)
The junior outfielder had some of the better throws from the outfield on the day, consistently hitting his target with throws up to 81 MPH. Another corner-OF type long term with a more compact frame, Burgard carried some gap power at the dish during his BP rounds. The righthander worked through a longer, lower stride load to widen his base at contact, with a longer, fluid path through the zone. Lifted the ball well with a max batted ball distance of 354 feet and a peak EV of 94 MPH.
'27 1B/RHP James Collier (Silverton/Portland Commit)
The most physically advanced player at the event and one of the more imposing players in the area, Collier was all over the event leaderboards and showcased his D-1 ability. The junior's ultra-strong 6'4, 235 pound middle-linebacker type frame moved well in the running and defensive portions of the workout with 83 MPH throws across the diamond. Offensively, Collier took his best BP rounds to date, generating nothing but loud contact with a peak exit velocity of 103 MPH while averaging 96.1 MPH. On the mound, Collier set new personal bests as well, running a fastball up to 90.5 MPH and sitting 85-89 MPH. Talented prospect is a must-follow this spring.
'28 C Chase Colling (Sheldon)
A highly ranked player in the '28 class, Colling impressed in his first Prep Baseball showcase look. The athleticism and ability to move well behind the plate stood out, further solidified by a 6.94 second 60-yard dash time. Colling also showcased a strong arm behind the dish with throws up to 78 MPH and a best pop time of 1.98 seconds. At the plate, Colling kept his weight stacked on his backside with a longer, loose-wristed swing through the zone. The sophomore displayed a flatter barrel path with a line drive approach and balls hit up to 94 MPH.
'27 RHP/3B Nicolas Fernandez (Jesuit)
The two-way player posted some quality metrics start to finish in his well-rounded performance. At the plate, Fernandez carried plus bat speed up over 79 MPH through the zone, posting exit velocities up to 95 MPH while averaging 88.5 MPH. The infielder also ran a 7.1 60-time, with sound movement patterns in the infield as well. On the mound, Fernandez displayed a three pitch mix, working a fastball up to 81 MPH with a low-70's changeup and mid-60's curveball as well.
'27 RHP/3B Jake Fisher (Grant)
Fisher put up some of the louder numbers both at the dish and on the mound. At the plate, the righty set in a wider, balanced stance with high hands, carrying ultra quick hands through the zone to barrel baseballs up to 98.4 MPH. The batspeed was consistent with an ability to punish baseballs up to 359 feet. On the mound, Fisher's fastball velocity held at 84-85 T85.9 MPH, killing spin well on a changeup and mixing in a curveball as well. Aggressive style of play translated in all facets. Intriguing follow.
'27 C Paul Herb (Sprague)
Stockier-framed backstop with shorter levers led to direct path to contact, kicking off the BP rounds with quality swings. The righty maintained tight levers with strength through contact and his finish, posting a 95.5 MPH peak EV while averaging 89.8 MPH. Herb also ran one of the better 60's of the event with a 7.13 time. Herb's quickness translated defensively, where he posted the second-best pop time of all players with a 2.00 second throw.
'28 RHP Mathias O'Brien (Westview)
A pitcher-only with upside, O'Brien's 6'3, 219 pound frame displayed his full arsenal in Corvallis. The fastball sat 80-82 T82.6 MPH, generating up to 17 inches of IVB. The changeup held fading action with over 17 inches of horizontal break on average, while an upper 60's slider was thrown as well. O'Brien's larger frame generated plus extension with over 6 feet generated on all pitches thrown.
'27 C Brady Patterson (North Medford)
The smooth-swinging lefty displayed a repeatable swing, setting in a more relaxed stance before a quick, higher stride and land. The junior controlled his movements well with a flatter path through the zone and a longer two-handed finish. Patterson posted exit velocities up to 94.2 MPH in BP rounds. The athletic backstop posted a 7.07 second run time and 2.00 second pop time to round out his quality showcase performance.
'29 INF/RHP Liam Sundsted (Forest Grove)
One of the more powerful young bats we've seen this preseason, Sundsted was all over the barrel offensively this weekend. The young righty carried batspeed north of 77 MPH, with a short-to-long approach yielding positive results. Sundstead carried some bat lag and whippiness through his swing to post a 97.1 MPH peak and 91.4 MPH average exit velocity, hitting balls up to 364 feet. More of a corner INF type defensively, Sundsted had throws up to 76 MPH across the dirt and worked a mid-70's fastball and a three pitch mix on the mound as well.
'27 INF Ben Weiss (Corvallis)
The athletic infielder will join a Corvallis side ranked in Prep Baseball's Preseason Power 25 for Oregon this spring, and showed well in his first showcase performance. Weiss led the event with a 6.86 60-time, translating to quick, middle infielder-type actions on defense. At the plate, the righthander set in a quiet stance, exploding late with quick hands to produce some of the loudest contact of the day. Weiss drove the ball in the air with ease, peaking with a 97.3 MPH exit velocity while averaging 91.5 MPH. Intriguing uncommitted talent.
