Prep Baseball Oklahoma Staff

The Oklahoma high school baseball season kicks off on Feb. 23 for classes A and B and Mar. 1 for classes 2A-6A, opening day for regular season action under OSSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2025 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Oklahoma Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Our 2026 preseason coverage continues today.

Key Players Lost:

Coach’s Insight: “As a team, our strengths come from our speed and ability to get on base. We are able to put pressure on other teams because we are constantly making defenses work. We are able to turn routine ground balls in to base hits, and take advantage of mistakes. The speed of our team also impacts our defense because we are able to make harder plays routine by using our athleticism. Our biggest weakness is we do not have a power arm. We do not strike out teams at a high rate so we are forced to play defense. Although we are very sound defensively, it makes it difficult at times because it feels like we have to field 21 outs every game. Although we do have good pitching, we tend to rely more on finesse and trying to force weak contact because the ball is going to be put in play often. ” – Riley Allen, head coach

Outlook: Dewey comes into the 2026 spring after a strong year a season ago. The 2025 season ended in the regional final and the Bulldoggers return a majority of that squad that will have lofty expectations. Offensively, their ability to string together quality ABs and get into opposing bullpens will be vital for their continued success - especially in district matchups. Further, expect Dewey to pressure opposing teams on the bases and have the ability to create offense despite the opponent or conditions. On the mound, they will pressure opposing teams and force action with strike throwers that looks to utilize their above average defense. On the heels of a strong finish a year ago, Dewey has the returners, athleticism, and dynamic offense to make a state tourney run in 2026.
