2026 Picks to Click: OF Carter Sweeney-Strawberry (Sherwood)

We continue our spring high school previews and projections with a look at 15 "Picks to Click" as we inch closer to the 2026 baseball season. Highlighted in these stories are players that we believe are in contention for "Player of the Year" or "Pitcher of the Year" and we will give a detailed analysis, including video on each. Without further ado, the next player we would like to highlight is Rutgers University commit Carter Sweeney-Strawberry from Sherwood.

Carter Sweeney-Strawberry OF / Sherwood High School, MD / 2026

Another public school bat to keep eyes on this spring, Rutgers commit Carter Sweeney-Strawberry missed out on almost all of the Sherwood Warriors title run in 2025 due to injury, and the Warriors are going to need a big senior campaign from Sweeney-Strawberry if they look to repeat again in 2026. 


An ultra-athletic, versatile player, Sweeney-Strawberry brings a ton to the table on both sides of the ball, and the shear strength and athleticism is something to marvel at day in and day out. Coach Davis will have the luxury of plugging the Rutgers commit into any spot in the lineup, and it will be interesting to see if he’s used as a table-setter at the top, or a middle of the order, run producing threat in the middle. Regardless, look for Sweeney-Strawberry to have a breakout ‘26 campaign and potentially lead Sherwood back to a state title game; a spot that the program is accustomed to.
