Well-balanced w/ present bat speed and leverage in the barrel as he drives this into LF for the 2 RBI 2B.
Field general in CF and would make a ridiculous diving catch later in the game.

Key moments: Both teams came out throwing punches as a 2-Run HR from 2027 OF Peyton Chancey would put the Bobcats early. Pickens tied it up at 3-3 in the 3rd and put the foot on the gas as they didn’t look back as they went on to win 15-3 behind a big performance from 2026 OF Robert Turner.
Avery’s Takeaway: The 515 rivalry opened with Pickens jumping out to an early 2-0 lead behind an RBI single from 2026 2B Christian Starks. The Bobcats would answer back as a 2-run HR from 2027 OF Peyton Chancey put Gilmer up 3-2 heading to the 2nd. 2026 C Kam Jenkins added an RBI in the 2nd to tie things at 3-3. The Dragons took advantage of a couple of walks in the 3rd behind a huge 2 RBI double from 2026 OF Robert Turner as they retook the lead 6-3. The bats would heat up from there as 2027 1B Tanner Bail came through with a 2 RBI knock as Jenkins added a double along with Turner and 2026 AJ Rice stacking triples as well en route to a 15-3 win. Pickens has started the year off hot and looks poised to be in the mix at the top of the class in 3A.

High-floor profile on both sides w/ more to tap into.@PB_Uncommitted@CHSBASEBALLGA || #GAHS26 pic.twitter.com/ziCzDJbHRV
Key Moments: An early inning manufactured run for the Jackets proved to be the difference as Rocco Baxter and Griffin Long were in a pitching duel over the first four innings.
Ian’s Takeaway: A big early season cross-town rivalry brought out the energy and high-level pitching from both sides. Junior LHP Rocco Baxter was phenomenal as seemingly came through in every big moment and really set the tone for Calhoun. Bullpen was huge for the Jackets as well as multiple pieces contributed with junior RHP Ryder Hood and senior RHP Camden Stewart shutting the door at the backend. On the Sonoraville side, the draft stock for RHP Griffin Long is on an upward trajectory with over 20 MLB scouts in attendance and the Kennesaw State commit looked the part. Up to 93 multiple times while showing a strong four pitch mix that he could command in-zone. Just 18.1 on draft day with projection remaining, and could be one of the more intriguing follows this spring.
