The 2026 Alabama high school baseball season opened Thursday with teams across the state returning to the field for the first time this spring. A full slate of games marked the beginning of the schedule, featuring a mix of non-region matchups and early tests for programs looking to establish themselves in the weeks ahead. While it’s only the first day on the calendar, the results offered an early snapshot of where teams stand coming out of the offseason. Below is a complete roundup of scores from Opening Day across Alabama.

Notable Recaps from Saturday

Tuscaloosa County vs. Pell City

Tuscaloosa County earned a 3-0 win over Pell City on Saturday behind a dominant outing from White, who tossed a perfect game to lead the Wildcats. White was in control throughout, retiring every batter faced and sealing the win with a lineout to end it. Tuscaloosa County scored early and added insurance in the second, while Mellown drove in two runs to pace the offense. The Wildcats also applied pressure on the bases and played clean defense as they now prepare to host Sipsey Valley on Wednesday.

Thompson vs. Northridge

Thompson came up short in a tight matchup Saturday, falling 5-2 to Northridge at River Run Park despite a dominant outing from Williams. Williams struck out 12 over five innings, allowing just two hits and two runs. Northridge scored once in the first on an error and added an insurance run in the third on Malone’s RBI double. Malone also earned the win on the mound with six scoreless innings and 10 strikeouts, while Thompson was limited to two hits in the loss.

American Christian vs. Gardendale

American Christian Academy walked it off Saturday with a 3-2 win over Gardendale at River Run Park, ending the game on Durrett’s RBI double in the eighth inning. The Patriots scored first, fell behind briefly, then tied the game in the fifth before delivering the final blow late. Elmore earned the win in relief with five scoreless innings, striking out six. ACA showed patience at the plate with eight walks and now prepares to travel to Spain Park for its next matchup.

Spain Park vs. Hartselle

Spain Park pulled off a thrilling 5-4 walk-off win over Hartselle on Saturday, scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh to seal it. Trailing late, the Jaguars strung together timely hits, capped by Cross’s walk-off single that drove in two. Cross led the offense with two RBIs, while Spain Park finished with 10 hits and played error-free defense. Byrd earned the win in relief as the Jaguars now turn their attention to a matchup at American Christian Academy.

Madison County vs. Deshler

Madison County edged Deshler 2-1 on Saturday in a tight pitching duel, pulling ahead with the go-ahead run in the eighth inning. Deshler struck first on a sacrifice fly in the third before Madison County tied it in the sixth. Both teams received strong starts on the mound, but Madison County capitalized late to secure the win. Drake earned the victory in relief, while Deshler now turns its attention to a home matchup with Athens on Tuesday.
