Prep Baseball Mississippi Staff

The 2026 Mississippi high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Pearl’s Trustmark Park, in the State Tournament finals at the end of May, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 25 rankings.

2026 OUTLOOK

+ Fresh off a dominant 39–5 season and a MAIS state title, Magnolia Heights enters the year with championship expectations still very much intact. Head coach Chris McMinn welcomes back a roster loaded with high-end talent, versatility, and depth across the field, the kind of group that rarely takes a step back after a title run.

The lineup again looks stacked from top to bottom. Cole Prosek (2026, Ole Miss) remains the centerpiece, offering elite versatility and impact on both sides of the ball. Tre Miller (2026, Liberty) gives the Chiefs a steady, physical presence in the infield, while Quincy Pratt (2027, Ole Miss) anchors things behind the plate and brings real thump to the middle of the order. Leland Weldon (2027) and Jack Price (2027) add strength and athleticism, and the flexibility of Carter Drumheller (2027) and Christian Doty (2026, Ole Miss) allows Magnolia Heights to mix and match without losing production.

The addition of Cayden Prestage (2026, North Alabama) and Brannan Overstreet (2027) only raises the ceiling. Prestage brings athleticism and a left-handed bat that plays in multiple roles, while Overstreet adds another dependable infield option with two-way ability.

On the mound, Prosek and Pratt headline the staff, giving the Chiefs proven arms who have already shown they can handle big-game moments. Bradley Carroll (2027) is another name trending up, adding depth and quality innings as the season wears on.

With a deep, experienced core and impact newcomers blended seamlessly into the mix  plus young talent like Jett Pratt (2029) waiting in the wings, Magnolia Heights looks well-positioned to defend its crown and remain one of the most complete teams in MAIS baseball.
