At 6-foot-5 and 195 pounds, Tyler Putnam is one of the most imposing arms we saw all year. Putnam committed to the University of Tennessee in October 2024 and is steadily becoming the pitcher they were dreaming about. With added strength, growth, and some polishing, he’s pushed his fastball into the mid-90s. We saw him touch 95 three times in a game at the Kansas City Program Invite, where he dominated using mostly his fastball.
With more room to grow, Putnam is trending toward the upper 90s, with a real chance to reach triple digits once he gets to Tennessee. Reports from this winter have Putnam topping at 100 MPH in a bullpen in January. Equally impressive is his average fastball, which we’ve seen sit 90–93 mph over four innings, a promising sign as he projects to be a college starter. Even if not in a starting role, that velocity alone makes him a formidable late-inning bullpen arm. As one of the younger pitchers on our top-five list, we’re excited to see what Putnam develops into over the next few years.

Electric stuff for @TyPutnam5 today as he went 4 IP, 2 H, 1 ER , 3 BB and 8 Ks.
Velo jumped every inning. Hit its peak in the 3rd. BIG arm talent with room to grow.
