Reno Preseason ID - Quick Hits | Upperclass

Brett Harrison
West Coast Supervisor

Reno, NV – The Reno Preseason ID, one of the premier events on the Prep Baseball Nevada calendar, was held on Sunday, February 8 at Reno High School. The one-day showcase brought together a talented group of prospects from the 2026–2030 classes, each looking to establish an early evaluation heading into the spring season.

Participants took part in a pro-style workout that included batting practice tracked by TrackMan and Blast Motion, 60-yard dash testing powered by VALD Performance, and a full defensive evaluation. Pitchers threw bullpens tracked by TrackMan, allowing our staff to capture detailed metrics including pitch velocity, spin rate, and horizontal and vertical movement.

We begin our Post Event Coverage of the Reno Preseason ID with the Quick Hits, highlgihting the players who made an immediate impression on the Prep Baseball Staff.

Blaine Bilderback RHP / OF / Douglas, NV / 2027

One of the biggest winners that we saw at the Reno Preseason ID was 2025 future gamer and West Coast games attending, Blaine Bilderback. After an winter season dedicated to adding strength and size to his frame, you could see it already translating into multiple Personal Bests, including an event and Personal Best 89.4 mph TrackMan fastball velocity, along with new Personal Best on the offensive side where he registered a 102.6 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity as well as a 96.4 mph Average Exit Velocity. His day didn’t stop there as he registered an Event Best 93 mph Outfield Velocity, finding his name on the top of another leaderboard to solidify himself as one of the, if not the top performers of the entire Nevada Preseason ID slate. This is a player who found his way onto our radar this time last year and has only seen his game continue to trend each time out with us with even more expected to come during a big Junior season.

Robby Breckenridge C / Spanish Springs, NV / 2026

Along with his stand out pop time behind the plate, the improved receiving and feel behind the plate was obvious with players requesting to throw to him during their bullpen sessions. On the offensive side of the ball, he put up loud numbers, including a 96.4 TrackMan Exit Velocity along with an 85.3 mph Average Exit Velocity, proving that he can drive the ball with authority while being able to find the barrel consistently. Keep an eye on Breckenridge as a key piece for Spanish Springs this high school season. Another player we saw put up multiple new Personal Bests as well as an Event Best pop time of 1.96 was uncommitted Senior, Robby Breckenridge. With obvious eyes and strength added to his Prep Baseball verified 5’7/183.2 frame, you could tell the work that he has put in over the last year and you can also see the parallels between the added strength and trending numbers and almost every part of his game.

Jax Burley RHP / SS / Sparks High School, NV / 2027

And his first event out with us, the Sparks high school product impressed with a four pitch mix that size as his fastball ran up to 85.6 mph while showing flashes of present feel for each of his secondary pitches. While the change showed natural heaviness with arm side life, has two breaking pitches were where he seemed most comfortable with his curveball still showing some loop while flashing tightness and more depth while he’s slider was thrown with more conviction and flashed a bit more sweep. This is an intriguing arm that seems to just be scratching the surface of what’s the common and we are excited to track his progress over the next few years.

John Burns OF / 3B / Galena, NV / 2027

Another player who saw his stock rise considerably after his performance at the Reno Preseason ID was 2027 outfielder, John Burns. Getting his day started off with his new Personal Best VALD 60 Time of 7.10, his actions in the outfield. We’re also trending with more efficient actions through the ball that helped him produce online throws to his target. But, at the plate is where he shined. His 96.9 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity along with his 91.4 mph Average Exit Velocity were both new Personal Bests, with his added strength over the winter break, already translating into improved power numbers. Burns is expected to be a key part in the heart of the order of a talented Galena squad this spring.

Nathan Chick OF / RHP / Reno, NV / 2027

In his first time back out with us in almost 2 years to the date, Chick has seen significant jumps in each part of his game with even more expected to come as he continues to fill out his growing frame. Getting his day started off with a VALD 60 Time of 6.88 seconds along with a 20.0 mph top speed, the Reno product was just getting started. At the plate, he put together an impressive batting practice session where he registered a 97.0 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity along with a 90.4 mph Average Exit Velocity, putting his added physical strength on full display. This is another player that we expect could have their breakout campaign during the 2026 high school season.

Spencer Deitz 1B / OF / Damonte Ranch, NV / 2026

With one of the most impressive batting practice sessions of the day where he found his name at, or near, the top of multiple heading metric categories, Spencer Dietz has asserted himself as one of the top power tools in Nevada’s 2026 class. In his first event out with us, the Damonte Ranch product the top Average Exit Velocity of 97.3 mph to go along with his 101.5 mph max TrackMan Exit Velocity, showing that not only can he hit for power, but can do it on a consistent basis. This is another player that we expect could have a loud spring season for the Mustangs.

Keenan Dolan RHP / OF / Bishop Manogue, NV / 2026

Coming off of a massive Summer campaign, Dolan has only continued to see his game trend into this Preseason, and it was no different at the Reno Preseason ID where he racked up new Personal Best and almost every metric that applied to him. Getting his day started off with an Event Best 6.65 VALD 60 Time, the prep Baseball verified 6’5/215.2 South Carolina signee, proved that he is among the top overall athletes in the state. After anyone of the events top Outfield Velocity at 87 mph, he put together one of the most impressive batting practice sessions of the day where he registered a new Personal Best 105.0 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity along with a 93.5 mph Average Exit Velocity. In a day where the two-way player has never been more valuable, Dolan is a player that we expect to be a massive impact on both sides of the ball for Bishop Manogue this spring.

Landon Garrido LHP / OF / Spanish Springs, NV / 2026

The 2025 West Coast Games standout and Eastern Arizona recruit proved himself as one of the top arms at the Reno Preseason ID as he still continues to ramp it up after shutting down for the Winter break. Though his velocity wasn’t a new best, his mix showed improvements in his feel and command, living in the zone with improved shape on his breaking ball that worked well off of his fastball. His changeup also showed better feels with natural arm side action, repeating his arm speed well. Garrido is another Spanish Springs product that is expected to have a big Senior Spring with much more come in his future.

Cinco Guillen SS / OF / Bishop Manouge, NV / 2027

Guillen was challenged this past Summer with adding strength to his frame as the way to take his game to the next level and we got it see it first hand at the Reno Preseason ID, adding 15 lbs. to his frame over the past 6 months. With that added strength, the jumps in his game were obvious, especially on the offensive side where he put up together a confident, loud Batting Practice Session that saw him put up new Personal Bests in both Max Exit Velocity - 95.2 mph and Average Exit Velocity at 87.8 mph. Already solidifying himself as a key piece for the Miners this past season, you could expect Guillen to take an even bigger role this Spring at the top of the Bishop Manogue lineup and at the shortstop position.

Braden Jones SS / RHP / Reno, NV / 2027

Arguably, no one’s stock has risen more over the past year than Braden Jones, helping lead Reno to the State Tournament, then put together one of Team Nevada’s top overall performances at the 2025 Future Games, culminating in his commitment to UCLA shortly after. The future Bruin had himself a massive day, posting Personal Bests in almost every metric, including: VALD 60 Time - 6.74, Infield Velocity - 90 mph, TrackMan Exit Velocity - 102.3 mph, Max Distance - 382 ft. and Blast Max Bat Speed - 77.9 mph. You can expect Jones to continue to ascend up the Nevada 2027 Class Rankings as well as the National Prep Baseball Rankings.

Corbin Koch OF / RHP / Bishop Manogue, NV / 2027

The lean, athletic two-way is a player that we project to have their breakout Spring in 2026 for a talented Bishop Manogue squad. A Swiss Army Knife type player who has already gotten time in the infield this Preseason, his comfort is in the outfield where he posted one of the events Top Outfield Velocities at 87 mph, but he was just getting his day started. After getting settled into his Batting Practice Session, he showed off his ability to consistently find the barrel while flashing his pull side power that saw him leave the yard multiple times. This is a player who has been under the radar up to this point, and we expect him to have his breakout season this Spring.

Jared Peters 1B / Douglas, NV / 2027

Arguably, no one has made a bigger jump in their game over the past few months than Jared Peters. His improved physical shape has translated into improved numbers across the board, including a new best Exit Velocity of 97.6 mph, with consistent barrels throughout his batting practice session. His improved foot speed also helped him improve his footwork around the bag at first base, and we only expect it to continue to trend as he continues to add strength to his frame.

Brooks Porter OF / RHP / Robert McQueen, NV / 2026

Another stand out at the Reno Preseason ID was two-sport athlete, Brooks Porter. The Prep Baseball verified 6’1/207.7 two-way announce his presence early with one of the top batting practice sessions of the day where he showed his present power tool throughout his round, helping him earn the events top TrackMan Exit Velocity of 105.1 mph to go along with his 418 foot max distance. Porter continues to make additional strides in his game each time out with us and this past weekend was no different as he also improved on his VALD 60 Time, posting a 6.67. We expect this McQueen product to potentially be one of the next players off the board in Nevada 2026 class.

Landon Pahang SS / RHP / Spanish Springs, NV / 2026

The Spanish Springs product join us in his first event since 2024 and had himself a day putting up new bests in almost every metric, with his game, seemingly just starting to scratch the surface as he still has plenty of room to add size and strength to his frame. Getting his day started off in the infield where you posted an 86 mph Infield Velocity, he then set a new Personal Best 60 time of 6.74 seconds with the top speed of 20.2 mph. Once he got settled into his batting practice session, we saw the impressive hit tool that we’ve known about for the past few years where you posted a 94.5 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity along with an 88.6 mph Average Exit Velocity. There’s a lot to like about this player and you can expect his game to only continue to trend at the next level.

Cole Schaffer SS / RHP / Spanish Springs, NV / 2026

One of the biggest winners at the Reno Preseason ID was Northwest Nazarene University signee Cole Schaffer. The Spanish Springs product got his day started off with his confident, fluid actions in the infield on display to go with his 87 mph Infield Velocity. He then put up another new Personal Best with a 6.85 VALD 60 Time with a top speed of 19.8 mph. He then took no time at all to get settled in to his batting practice session where he showed off his power potential transitioning into present power as he left the yard multiple times with the help of his 95.9 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity, while proving he can do it consistently within an 85.6 mph Average Exit Velocity. This is another player that we believe is only scratching the surface of what’s to come for him as a baseball player as he possesses a ton of room in his lean, 6’0 foot frame that we only anticipate his game to continue to trend as he adds strength and size.

Aiden Tarlo SS / 2B / Douglas, NV / 2027

A player we had circled on our roster as want to follow at the Reno Preseason ID, Tarlo did not disappoint as he put up multiple new bests throughout his day that show his game is continuing to trend in the right direction. The Douglas product put together one of the more impressive batting practice sessions of the day where he registered an 88.8 mph Average Exit Velocity to go with his 100% sweet spot percentage. Athleticism continues to shine through each time out with us as he continues to add size and strength to his 6’0 frame, adding 6 pounds over the winter break. Keep an eye on this player as one that we expect to be a key contributor for the Tigers this coming spring.
