2026 High School Team Preview: Sequoyah Chiefs
February 8, 2026
The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.
Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state.
Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week, updating the top-10 ranks in each GHSA classification, as well updating our Power 25 overall rankings. One thing, especially, you don’t want to miss are our scheduled podcasts with guests from across the state, as well as the recaps and previews of the big games we’re covering.
*Please note the information has been gathered from head coaches across the state, based on their replies to the questionnaire we distributed over this offseason.

TEAM OUTLOOK
Talking with Coach Barber and some of the Chiefs seniors at Cherokee County media day we found out that they are really excited about the group they have this season. As always, pitching will play a pivotal role in the success and they have 2 Northwest Florida commits to set the tone. RHP Drew Harmon and LHP Diego Becerra will lead the rotation and give them a real chance to set the tone early in the 3 game series in region play. We have seen those 2 be as lights out as anyone when they have their best stuff. They can also be sneaky bats in the line up that always seem to find some barrels in the spring season. Fellow seniors RHP Jack Ripley and LHP Reilly Wynne will give them the experience they need behind Harmon and Becerra to eat up meaningful innings and let their offense do what they need to. LHP Carson Bahry will also see plentiful innings from the left side and round out their senior heavy staff. The offense will be led by Georgia Tech commit, SS Kolby Martin. The QB1 is a pure leader on and off the diamond and give them just what they need with some young bats that may find their way in the line up. C Michael White will be a big piece in this line up as well with a chance to supply some power in the middle of the order. Juniors 1B Cason Gant and OF/RHP Duke Sanders will lead the 2027 class for the Chiefs. Gant has been one of the more steady performers over the years during the spring and summer. There is easy pull side power from the left side and great barrel control allowing him to be one of the more steady pieces in this order. Sanders has made some big strides over the last year and could have a breakout year both at the plate and on the mound. Sophomore LHP Evan Wylie is an underclassmen we feel really good about and think he could end up playing a big role out of the pen for this staff. Keep an eye out for guys like 3B Jasper Brock, SS Kyle Sims and Daison Stallworth to be some underclassmen that will see time this spring as well.
