TEAM OUTLOOK

Woodcreek enters 2026 coming off an 18–10 season with a roster built around pitching depth and a dependable, athletic defense. Head coach Lucas Conn returns eight starters and four pitchers from last year’s CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division 2 Playoff team, giving the Timberwolves a strong foundation to build on. The strength of this group lies in its ability to prevent runs, with a solid core of arms supported by a defense that brings stability across the diamond and sets the tone.

On the mound, RHP Ayden Gomez (2026) headlines the returning staff, while Bushnell commit RHP Tyler Thompson (2026) provides another reliable arm capable of handling meaningful innings. Offensively and defensively, Woodcreek leans on a veteran senior class featuring C/1B Cameron Clouse (2026), UTIL Cody Scott (2026), and 1B/C Koen Guernsey (2026), all of whom offer positional versatility and experience in key roles. The junior group adds athleticism and upside, with OF Trace Murchison (2027) manning center field, INF Blaze Flores (2027) maintaining a consistent presence up the middle, and 3B/C Ian Martinez (2027) mixing in at third base and adding further catching depth.

With a strong returning core and a clear identity centered on pitching and defense, the Timberwolves should again be a tough matchup throughout the season. If the offense continues to develop around its veteran leaders and younger contributors like INF Esteban Rodriguez (2028) gain traction, Woodcreek has the makeup to build on last year’s success and push deeper into the postseason picture in 2026.

Quote from the Coach

“We’re looking forward to this season. We have a great group of young men with both talent and character. Our goal, as always, is to win the CVC and make noise in the playoffs.”
