2026 OUTLOOK

+ Sevier County enters the 2026 season aiming to build off a 16–15 campaign that featured flashes of competitiveness in District 2. Under head coach Casey Taylor, the Smoky Bears return a young but intriguing roster that blends developing position players with a deep group of arms, particularly from the underclass ranks. With another year of experience and defined roles taking shape, Sevier County has the opportunity to take a step forward in a competitive 4A landscape.

Offensively, the lineup is led by Jacob Greene (2026), a key returning piece who brings varsity experience and versatility. Greene projects as a dependable option in the order and a steady presence defensively, with the ability to impact games through consistent at-bats. His progression will be important as the Bears look for more offensive continuity throughout the lineup.

James Hooker (2027) is another cornerstone returning for Sevier County and arguably the most impactful two-way piece on the roster. Hooker is expected to play a major role offensively while also serving as one of the primary arms on the mound. His ability to contribute in multiple facets gives the Smoky Bears flexibility with lineup construction and pitching usage, and his development could elevate the overall ceiling of the team.

On the mound, Sevier County brings back a deep and youthful pitching staff. Hooker headlines the group, joined by Zane Miller, Benny Greene, and Hunter Hanson, all of whom are expected to log meaningful innings. This staff features a mix of power potential and projection, with several arms still early in their varsity development. How quickly this group settles into consistent roles will be a major storyline throughout the spring.

The 2026 class provides additional depth and competition across the roster. Braden Huffaker, Hayden Parrish, Britt St. Clair, Wyatt Maples, Kaden Roach, Austin Williams, and Sammy Yoakum are all names that could factor into positional or pitching roles as the season unfolds. That group gives Sevier County internal competition and lineup flexibility as the coaching staff evaluates matchups week to week.

Looking ahead, the underclass core is extensive and promising. Brayden Stinnett, Braden Pike, and Kaden Clopton (2028s) represent the next wave of contributors, while a large 2029 group including Zane Miller, Benny Greene, Hunter Hanson, Wyatt Kees, Chris Pettis, Bode Warren, and Cayden McCoy adds long-term depth and development upside to the program. Their early exposure to varsity-level expectations should pay dividends down the road.

With a growing pitching staff, emerging offensive pieces, and a large pipeline of young talent, Sevier County enters 2026 focused on development and consistency. If the Smoky Bears can solidify their pitching roles and get steady production from their returning bats, they have the foundation to push past last season’s results and continue trending upward in District 2.
