2026 High School Team Preview: Savannah Christian Raiders

The 2026 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Georgia.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in the GHSA or GIAA state playoffs, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Georgia. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews and by continuing our scheduled podcasts and releasing our preseason top-10 rankings in each GHSA classification and Power 25.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Raiders are looking to build off a successful 2025 season despite falling short in the State Championship. Coach Oglesby and staff have the pieces in place as they return seven starters from last year's group and look to make another playoff run. The difference-maker for this club is uncommitted senior C/3B Cardin Patrick who earned Co-Player of the year in the private division last season. Patrick is armed with a present feel to hit and impact in the barrel as he paces the offense while possessing a strong glove at a premium positions as well. 2026 CIF/RHP Brian Hong saw an everyday role a season ago and looks to give consistency out of the corner infield spot and offers value on the mound as well. Senior IF/RHP Brody Schuman lives for the moment and anchored the staff as the game 1 starter throughout the playoffs while carrying a key role in the lineup as well with a potent hit/power combo. Two-way impact comes from 2026 IF/RHP Chase Boyer who brings a quality floor to the Raiders lineup while manning the closer duties out of the pen as well. Senior UTL Athen Hudspeth sparkplugs the offense as he sets the tone out of the lead-off spot while filling a multitude of roles defensively. Another focal point of this offense is 2026 OF Weston Hughes who hit nearly .400 last season and yields a dependable stick. Another pivotal piece to the lineup is senior OF Mason Omohundro who hit for over .300 a season ago and holds down a spot in the outfield as well. 2026 RHP Griffin Graham returns the most innings pitched (48 IP) and provides senior experience to the rotation. Senior RHP Jackson Farkas is geared up to take on a larger role this season as he holds down a spot in the rotation. More senior two-way value comes from C/RHP Britton Yount (Caldwell CC) who strengthens the depth of both the lineup and bullpen. RHP Ethan Jones pitched to the tune of a 2.72 ERA across 43 IP and returns as a fixture in the rotation. Junior RHP/1B/OF Brayden Austin was limited due to injury last season and put together a strong freshman campaign the year before that, as he will look to step into a key role in the rotation while offering value to the lineup as well. 2027 1B/RHP Will White aims to compete for a starting spot and supply power to the offense while bolstering the depth of the bullpen. Sophomore LHP/OF/1B Caden Godbee will fill multiple roles both in the lineup and rotation as he brings swiss-army knife production to the diamond. 2028 OF Brantley Bilenski got his feet wet last season and will look to earn more quality time this year. Coach Oglesby and the Raiders bring in an influx of talented freshmen including RHP/DH Reeve Simmons, IF Colt Harper, IF Trey Gibbs, OF Ryan Shawl, and C Jackson Selph all who look to make an impact from day 1. This veteran group knows what it takes to win as they boast experience, team speed, and a potent offense which bodes extremely well for a chance to bring a state title home.
