FROM LAST NIGHT

+ OXFORD VS. TUPELO

Tupelo rolled to a 7-1 win over Oxford on Friday behind a dominant start from Tanner Brannigan, who struck out 10 over four innings while allowing just two hits and one run. The Golden Wave broke the game open with a five-run second inning and added insurance runs in the third. Tupelo’s offense was balanced, with RBI contributions from Enis, Goad, Zimmerman, and Wilson, while the team also swiped five bases. Bobo provided solid relief, and Tupelo now heads to Houston for its next matchup on Saturday.

+ PONTOTOC VS. MOOREVILLE

Pontotoc edged Mooreville 3-2 on Friday in a tightly played, pitching-driven contest. Finn led the way for the Warriors, striking out 11 over five innings while allowing just one hit and one run, and also contributed at the plate with two hits and two stolen bases. After Mooreville opened the scoring in the second, Pontotoc answered with timely runs in the third and fifth to take the lead for good. Heatherly and Wilson each drove in a run, and Cooley secured the save as Pontotoc now prepares to face South Pontotoc on Saturday.

+ EAST WEBSTER VS. NEW HOPE

East Webster rallied late to secure a 5-4 win over New Hope on Friday, scoring two runs in the seventh inning on Grimes’ go-ahead double. The Wolverines jumped out early with two runs in the first, then traded leads throughout before pulling ahead for good late. Grimes and Stewart each finished with two hits and two RBIs to lead the offense, while East Webster showed patience at the plate with seven walks. After solid pitching performances on both sides, the Wolverines closed it out and will host Bruce on Tuesday.

+ CLARKDALE VS. WEST LAUDERDALE

Clarkdale walked it off in dramatic fashion Friday, edging West Lauderdale 5-4 after capitalizing on late defensive miscues in the bottom of the sixth. The Bulldogs opened the scoring early, then battled back to tie the game in the fourth before overcoming a one-run deficit in the final inning. Rich earned the win in relief, tossing three strong innings, while McRee led the offense with a 2-for-2 night. Despite 10 hits and four stolen bases from West Lauderdale, Clarkdale found a way to pull it out and will travel to Stringer on Tuesday.

+ MADISON CENTRAL VS. WARREN CENTRAL

Madison Central edged Warren Central 2-1 on Friday, breaking a late tie with the go-ahead run in the seventh inning. Both teams received strong pitching performances, combining for 18 strikeouts on the night. Madison Central scored first in the second before Warren Central tied the game with a solo homer in the sixth. Kelly earned the win in relief, while Lee set the tone with five scoreless innings to start. Madison Central now turns its attention to a matchup with Petal on Thursday.

+ OCEAN SPRINGS VS. GEORGE COUNTY

Ocean Springs pulled out a 7-6 win over George County on Friday behind a huge night from Meleady, who drove in five runs. He delivered at every turn, including a three-run homer in the sixth that proved to be the difference, along with an RBI single and sacrifice fly earlier in the game. The contest featured multiple lead changes before Ocean Springs pulled ahead late, with Huffman earning the win in relief and Meleady also picking up the save. The Greyhounds collected nine hits, showed patience with 10 walks, and now head to Vancleave for their next matchup on Saturday.

+ LAMAR VS. WAYNE ACADEMY

Lamar outlasted Wayne Academy in a high-scoring 14-11 win on Friday, as both offenses traded big innings throughout the night. The Raiders built an early lead behind patience at the plate and timely hits, then held on after Wayne Academy mounted a six-run rally in the sixth. Brady led Lamar with four RBIs, while Whitcomb and Reed added multi-hit performances. Lee earned the win on the mound, and Reed closed it out for the save. Lamar now turns its focus to a matchup with Pisgah on Tuesday.
