We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

Please keep checking back throughout the season as we will be your one-stop shop for everything related to high school baseball across the state. Each week we will be releasing our Players of the Week and updating the Power 25 rankings.

2026 OUTLOOK

+ Ocean Springs enters the 2026 season positioned once again as one of the more complete programs along the Gulf Coast after a 24–8–1 campaign that ended in the second round of the MHSAA 7A playoffs. Under head coach Ryne Long, the Greyhounds continue to combine depth, athleticism, and experience, returning a roster loaded with college-committed talent and impact underclassmen ready to push for roles early.

The strength of this group begins on the mound, where Ocean Springs brings back a deep and versatile pitching staff. Adam Clower (2026, Pearl River CC) anchors the staff as a two-way presence, offering reliability on the bump while also providing power and physicality at first base. Tristan Fox (2026, East Central CC) and Johan Baez (2026, New Orleans) give the Greyhounds additional experienced arms capable of handling high-leverage innings, while Colton French (2027, Mississippi Gulf Coast CC) continues to emerge as a key piece with upside as both a starter and bullpen option. Younger arms like Patterson Gilfoil (2028) and Manny Huffman (2028) add depth and long-term stability, giving Ocean Springs plenty of options as the season unfolds.

Defensively, the Greyhounds are just as strong up the middle. Shortstop Justin San Miguel (2026, Troy) provides leadership and consistency, anchoring the infield with a steady glove and advanced feel for the game. In center field, AJ Rossi (2026, Mississippi Gulf Coast CC) brings range, speed, and instincts, setting the tone defensively while impacting the lineup offensively. This veteran core allows Ocean Springs to play clean baseball and control tempo against top-level competition.

Beyond the headline names, the supporting cast is deep. The 2026 class features several players who could see expanded roles, including Ashton Bahr, Jayvon Williams, Lucas Sinopoli, and Victor Rojas. The 2027 group Alex Green, Ethan Johnson, and Brody Niles adds athleticism and positional flexibility, continuing the program’s trend of developing contributors across multiple classes.

The future is equally bright with a large group of impact underclassmen already pushing into varsity consideration. Middle infielder Easton Fox (2028) and third baseman Easton Bahr (2028) headline a talented sophomore class, while catcher Maddox Russell (2028) brings defensive value behind the plate. On the corners, Peyton Meleady (2029) and Cash Champagne (2028) offer physical upside, with Champagne also contributing on the mound. In the outfield, Cole McNally (2029) adds speed and range, giving Ocean Springs another dynamic option moving forward.

With a proven core of upperclassmen, a deep pitching staff, and a wave of talented underclassmen ready to contribute, Ocean Springs once again profiles as a tough out in Region 4. If the Greyhounds continue to get consistent production on the mound and steady growth from their younger pieces, they have the makeup of a team capable of making another deep postseason push in MHSAA 7A.
