2026 MSHSAA Team Preview: Lindbergh Flyers

Prep Baseball Missouri Staff

The Missouri high school baseball season kicks off on Mar. 20, opening day for regular season action under MSHSAA regulations. Leading up to opening day, we’ll be publishing our team previews ahead of the 2026 spring season, touching on programs spanning all state classifications, counting down to the official Prep Baseball Missouri Preseason Power 25 Rankings.

Perennially, we’ve submitted a preseason questionnaire to high school head coaches across the entire state. Their responses have been flooding in and we’re using the detailed insight they’ve provided in our team-by-team preseason analysis.

Our 2026 preseason coverage continues today.

2026 SEASON OUTLOOK

No. of Returning Position Players: 5
No. of Returning Pitchers: 8

Top Returners:

  • Austin Jones (2026) - 1B/LHP, 6-3, 200, L/L
    • Jefferson JC commit
    • 4 year starter, break out season last year on mound and at the plate. Should be our leader and go to guy this season.
  • Jack Politte (2027) - 3B/P, 6-2, 210 R/R.
    • 3 year starter, will be our ace on the mound again this season. Could be his breakout year the plate, but he is very talented and a great competitor.
  • CJ Luczak (2027) - SS, 6-0, 170, S/R.
    • Very talented SS and switch hitter that showed signs of big things to come last season. Plus defender with range and consistency. Arm is better than it needs to be. One to watch this season.
  • Jon Calcaterra (2028) - P/DH, 6-5, 210, R/R.
    • Big physical presence on the mound and at the plate. Won't sneak up on anybody, but he should be a force to reckon with this season after having a year under his belt learning what it takes with a tough Class 6 schedule last season. He will live up to the hype.

Top Newcomers:

  • Augie Hutchison (2026) - CF, 6-0, 160, L/R.
    • Augie was our 4th OF last season and showed signs of being a really talented defender and runner. Very good contact guy with speed and the ability to go get it in the OF with a plus arm.

Key Players Lost:

Coach’s Insight: “This year's squad should be very solid on the mound and on defense. We return the majority of last year's staff and have key defensive positions still covered. As with most HS teams facing all these electric arms in the area, we need to find our identity and consistency on offense. The team that finds a way to consistently put up runs with be at a big advantage moving forward.” – Darin Scott, head coach
