Q&A with Bradley Commit William Bologna
February 13, 2026
INF William Bologna (Liberty North) is a slick-fielding, up the middle defender who profiles as a top of the order presence for one of the KC metro area’s top programs, currently ranked inside the top 50 of our senior class rankings. An all-state selection last spring with the Eagles, Bologna consistently finds ways to impact the game as a difference maker with both the glove and the bat. This past summer, he committed to Bradley University to continue his playing career.
We recently had the chance to talk to Bologna about his recruitment process, along with some other fun topics, below.
Our Q&A
Prep Baseball: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?
William: I was excited about August first and seeing all my hard work starting to pay off. I was looking for a competitive environment and somewhere where I knew I would be pushed every day. I was also looking for a coaching staff that has confidence in me and wants to see me succeeded.
PB: What do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?
W: Definitely the Coaching staff, Coach Deadman and Coach Kellogg are awesome and talked to me almost everyday during the recruiting process. Coach Deadman recruited me at LMU and when he got the job at Bradley he texted me right away and started my recruitment process with them. Can' say enough about the staff at Bradley and how awesome they are. Their vision for player development and plans for their players is what sealed the deal for me.
PB: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?
W: Working and staying consistent is the biggest key. Stay focused on yourself and chose what is right for you.
PB: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?
W: No, not at all.
PB: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Where did the school you committed to first see you play?
W: August first, so pretty early. Coach Deadman saw me play in Atlanta my sophomore summer
PB: Was there a particular Prep Baseball tournament or showcase that helped accelerate your recruiting process? If yes, how so?
W: I'm sure that the NPI was a big help, a lot schools saw me play there.
PB: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?
W: At the end of my recruitment I was only talking to Notre Dame, Illinois, and Johnson County Community College.
PB: Who is the best player you have faced in your state? What about them makes for a tough opponent?
W: My sophmore year we played Blue Springs at home and we faced Cole Gibler, he was as complete of a pitcher [as] I have ever faced.
PB: If you could steal any tool or quality from another player in the state, what would it be and who would it be from?
W: I would say Brody Crane's arm strength.
PB: Who is the next talented young player to keep an eye on out of your high school or travel program?
W: I think Max Shepherd is a kid to look out for. He has raw arm talent with a great off speed. He is due for a big spring.
PB: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?
W: I would say freshman year when I was able to get on the varsity field a little bit and realized this is something I could do.
PB: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?
W: Definitely my sophomore year district championship game against Liberty - beating them and dog pilling with all my teammates
PB: Preview your high school team's season for us. How do you feel your team will be?
W: We are going to be a very exciting group of high level players with multiple Division 1 commits. I am very excited to get rolling with this group.
