Others on the Bubble
Autauga Academy
Autauga Academy made waves down the stretch of the 2025 postseason, using a challenging regular-season schedule against higher-class competition to fuel a run to the Elite Eight. Along the way, the Generals knocked off No. 3 Millry, proving they can match up with anyone in the field. With that playoff experience now in hand, Autauga Academy enters 2026 aiming to take another step forward and push even deeper this spring.
Hubbertville
Hubbertville is another team to keep an eye on this spring and could quickly break into the Top 10 with a strong start to the season. The Lions return eight starters and their top four pitchers from a Sweet 16 team that went 17-9 and captured the first area championship in program history. Cole Brand headlines the group after hitting .513 as a sophomore in 2025.
South Lamar
South Lamar brings back a wealth of experience from last year’s Elite Eight squad, returning nearly its entire lineup along with its top two arms. The Stallions reached the quarterfinals before falling to eventual champion Hackleburg, briefly holding a lead in Game 1 and then dropping a tight 1-0 decision in Game 2. With that core back in place, expect South Lamar to be in the mix all season and push into the polls at some point this spring.
Team Superlatives
🏆 Most Complete Team: Hackleburg
Hackleburg enters the spring as the most complete team in Class 1A after capturing the state championship a season ago. The Panthers are led by Ross Hudson (Bevill State CC), the Class 1A Finals MVP and an All-State selection, who sets the tone for an experienced roster. They also return key contributors in Cam Ingram, Maddox Vickery, Kross Weeks, and Daughtry Gober, giving Hackleburg proven production and versatility across the field. With a group that has logged significant postseason innings, the Panthers enter 2026 positioned once again as one of the teams to beat in Class 1A.
🔥 Best Pitching Staff: Leroy
Leroy enters the 2026 season loaded with returners who impact the game on both sides of the ball, starting with a pitching staff that brings back every arm from its runner-up finish in Class 1A a year ago. That group is now a year more experienced and is led by Sawyer Sullivan, Keegan Giles, and Andrew Mauldin, who handled the bulk of the innings throughout last year’s postseason run. The continuity and depth on the mound give the Bears a strong foundation in series play. Offensively, they also return a veteran group capable of providing consistent support. With that balance in place, Leroy looks like a legitimate contender for the Class 1A title in 2026.
💣 Offense to Watch: Addison
Addison slugged its way to a Final Four appearance in 2025, averaging over 10 runs per game during the postseason and showcasing one of the most dangerous lineups in Class 1A. That offensive firepower should be on display again this spring with Stone Talley, Tucker Thompson, and Kiah Lake all returning after playing key roles in last year’s run. The Bulldogs proved they can apply pressure in a hurry and score in bunches against quality arms. After getting a taste of deep playoff baseball before falling to eventual champion Hackleburg, Addison enters 2026 aiming to contend for the title behind a lineup built to do damage.
🚀 Highest Ceiling: Fayetteville
Fayetteville enters 2026 with a loaded and experienced roster, returning essentially everything from a lineup that combined to hit .329 a season ago and logged over 1,000 plate appearances. The Wolves saw their first run through Class 1A end in the Sweet 16 with a hard-fought series loss to Florala after dropping down from 2A. They’re led by All-State selections Ethan Jones (Lawson State CC), Brenton Cantrell (Lawson State CC), and Eli Burns, who anchor a group with both production and experience. With that much continuity and firepower back in place, Fayetteville has as much upside as anyone in the class if everything clicks this spring.
🧱 Highest Floor: Brantley
Brantley has established itself as one of the most reliable postseason programs in Class 1A, consistently making deep runs year after year. The Bulldogs have reached at least the Elite Eight in each of the last three seasons, including a runner-up finish in 2023 and a Final Four appearance in 2025. They’ll be led by returners such as Chaz Branum, while also leaning on newcomers to fill key roles left open by graduation. Even with some turnover, Brantley has a track record of finding its rhythm when the playoffs arrive. That consistency gives them one of the highest floors in the classification entering 2026.
