On January 3rd, the Prep Baseball California team hosted the La Mirada Preseason All-State at La Mirada High School in La Mirada, Cal. This was an invite-only event for high school classes (2026-2029), and gave our staff an ample look at the state's top prospects.

Today, we will we’re taking a look at all of the pitchers from the event, with a Top-10 ranking from the day:

TOP-10 PITCHING PROSPECTS

1. Logan Steenburgen, El Dorado High (CA), 2026
Positional Profile: RHP/OF Big-bodied right-hander with a power build, multi-pitch mix, and traits that point toward a physical starter profile.
Body: 6-2.6, 224-pounds. Large, mature frame with broad shoulders and a strong lower half.
Delivery: Stays tall through the lift before moving downhill with steady momentum. Lower half carries weight efficiently, allowing him to stay on line and repeat his release. Delivery looks built for consistency more than effort.
Arm Action: RH. Short arm stroke that stays loose and on time. Comes through a higher three-quarter slot with clean acceleration and finishes through the target. Arm works freely with minimal stress.
FB: T89, 84-88 mph. Primary weapon that comes out firm and heavy. Ball holds its plane through the zone and plays well at the top and to the glove side. Comfortable attacking hitters early and setting up secondaries off it. T2271, 2166 average rpm.
SL: 73-74 mph. Defined breaking ball with sharp, lateral movement. Best when thrown with intent, showing the ability to miss barrels and induce chase to the glove side. T2109, 2064 average rpm.
CH: 74-75 mph. Shows feel to land it in the zone and disrupt timing, particularly against opposite-handed hitters. T1828, 1734 average rpm.
CUT: 80-80 mph. Firmer offering that bridges the gap between fastball and slider. Gives him another look to keep hitters off the barrel and attack inside lanes.
