Justice Smith LHP / 1B / Caesar Rodney High School, DE / 2029There is a new No. 1 across MD and DE, as the 6-foot-3, 185-pound southpaw jumps into the top spot following a standout spring with Caesar Rodney. Smith impressed our staff in the preseason, running the fastball into the upper 80s with relative ease, and carried that momentum into the spring, as our staff got multiple looks at both the offensive talent and the arsenal on the bump. The fastball got up to 87 on multiple occasions, working the heater mostly to the arm side with run and the ability to get whiffs in the zone. The slider continues to add shape/feel, with some backfoot tendencies that only improve with each look. The difference-maker is the killed-spin changeup that plays well off the fastball and should only increase the value of the arsenal as feel improves. This is an arm with an incredibly high ceiling that should open a ton of eyes on the national circuit this summer. |

Sean Madden 3B / RHP / Georgetown Preparatory School, MD / 2029The top "true" two-way in the class, Madden jumps into the top ten of this update to No. 6 following a few standout performances early this summer. It's an athletic makeup that allows the hands to work quick at the dish, showcasing a smooth line drive approach with increased power to the gaps and alleys. The arm talent on the bump is the big separator, as Madden has been up to 88 on multiple occasions early this summer with the ability to get outs/whiffs with both the fastball and the breaking ball. As this frame continues to mature, and strength is added, look for this summer to be the big breakout season for the highly-touted two-way out of Georgetown Prep.

Ayden Jenkins C / 2B / Sherwood High, MD / 2029Versatility, athleticism, and one of the top consistent hit tools across the class, Jenkins sees himself jump inside the top ten of this update. Strong wrists with some barrel speed through the zone, the 6-foot, 180-pounder showcased the whole-field strength consistently throughout the spring for the 3A state champions, and the ability to manipulate the barrel is certainly special at such a young age. The strength continues to be added to the frame, and as the physicality makes a jump, look for the doubles power to turn into true homerun power to the gaps and alleys. |
