The spring update is arguably the most important and most in depth update of the year. Our staff has taken in more than 240 games this season and during the course of that time, we have gathered evaluations, provided updated scout blogs, updated pitching velos, discussed players on High & Tight, and spent hundreds of hours observing and scouting thousands of players in the state of Virginia & DC. With all of that time put in, we also do a complete overhaul of the entire database of profiles within each class. With the 2027 class our staff has combed and crosschecked more than 1300 profiles in the state to try and be as thorough as possible. The full schedule for the week is as follows: Rankings Risers, New Faces, Top 50, Overall Class Update, and Case for #1.

Class of 2027 Top 10
*Players are listed in alphabetical order.*

Teagan Leach | 2027 | 1B |
Battlefield |
|
+ Click here for notes & videoBest combination of hit and power in this class, and one of the better all around hitters in recent memory. Defensive profile is the question mark, as he is an adequate defender at first base, but currently lacks positional versatility to potentially play a corner outfield position, which would help the overall profile. With that being said, the offense is more than enough to carry this profile and he has shown a tremendous ability to produce impactful offense in game. |

Nico Moritz-Toledo | 2027 | OF |
Battlefield |
|
+ Click here for notes & videoArguably the best scaled tool in this group, with the run tool being well above average and approaching top of the scale. Profiles as centerfield/left field in that order with the ability to change the game on the bases. The offense is hit over power, but has flashed improved impact and some sneaky power for the smaller framed left handed hitter. Average defender in the outfield with below average arm strength and the footspeed to get to some baseballs that others cannot manage. |

Sam Szefc | 2027 | SS/RHP |
Blacksburg |
|
+ Click here for notes & videoSzefc is having probably the best spring of any 2027 in the state. Szefc is hitting .635 with ridiculous impact. Five homeruns, four triples, and twelve doubles account for more than 50% of his total hits, carrying a nearly 2.000 OPS. In addition to the impact, he has a better than 4:1 BB/K ratio. It is probably more 2B/3B defensive profile with strong bat to ball traits, impact upside, and can control the strike zone. He is certainly a legitimate candidate as a two-way player at the next level, but if we had to lean one way or another, we are leaning a little more on the positional side. |

Cole Cinnamond | 2027 | LHP |
Great Bridge |
|
+ Click here for notes & videoA lot of the upside and value remain unchanged, while some of the question marks do as well. Some ups and downs in outings that we have seen this spring. Made a big impression early, more importantly in his control and added feel for secondary, while the other two outings had some flare ups in some of the control issues that are present at times. You simply must continue to ride with a 6'4", 200+ pound left hander that has flashed 93-94 and will show two pitches. The next jump for the Clemson commit would be in the area of consistent outings and control, to go along with his potential stuff on the mound. |

|
Graydon Ambrose | 2027 | C |
First Colonial HS |
|
+ Click here for notes & videoPhysical and durable framed catcher that has flashed the ability to catch and throw. This was a tough spring to see Ambrose, not because of anything he was or was not doing, but when we got out to evaluate, he just simply was not getting anything to hit due to lack of protection around him. For the most part, the Virginia Tech commit did a good job of staying within himself and not expanding the zone during his at bats to try and force the offense. |

|
Bryan Miller Jr. | 2027 | C |
Woodgrove HS |
|
+ Click here for notes & videoThe offense this spring has not shown much impact, it has flashed more singles and bat to ball oriented swing. Quality swing decisions and zone control. Athletic behind the plate, handles the staff well, average arm strength, and an accurate thrower. The lack of physicality and thinner frame, paired with the athleticism, lean more position versatility between left field and behind the plate. Not sure the body would hold up to the every day demands of being behind the plate. In addition to that, he is a good athlete and could potentially be of more value playing a few different positions. |

Christian Gomez | 2027 | OF |
Battlefield HS |
|
+ Click here for notes & videoProfile that still leans more corner outfield over center. The offensive makeup has been more power upside over hit. The quality contact and in-game power has flashed and will need to show more consistently, like it did at times last summer, in order to match the defensive profile. Above average watch runner that had some added in game production on the bases this spring. |

| 8. | |||||
|
Brady McCormack | 2027 | RHP |
Monacan HS |
|
+ Click here for notes & videoGot a late start to the spring and had some ups and downs throughout the spring. Normal to slightly above effort delivery and can really generate arm speed on the turn. Mostly two pitches with the 88-92 mph fastball that has been up to 93, paired with a 77-80 mph slider that has a chance to be average or slightly above. The control had some ups and downs this spring. With the way the arm works, the physical makeup, and the ability to spin, there is still plenty of upside here. Will need to add and get comfortable with a third pitch, as well as be more consistent in the strike zone. |

|
Kaden Zimorowicz | 2027 | RHP |
Highland School |
|
+ Click here for notes & videoSmaller framed, ultra competitive right hander with a chance for an average to slightly above slider. While there may be some physical limitations long term and not sure where the ceiling to the velo lies, his ability to throw and land three secondary pitches certainly adds to his overall value. Generally works in the 87-90 range and will occasionally flash a 91, usually early on. Because of the athleticism in the operation, the compete, and the ability to land multiple secondary pitches, Zim raises the floor to a profile that may otherwise be lower because of the physical makeup. |

Chase Colangelo | 2027 | SS |
PDG Academy |
|
+ Click here for notes & videoAlmost certainly the best and most consistent defender in this class (probably between him and Wyatt Parker). Instinctive defender with quality reads and approach to setup throws and plays. While he is not a near elite runner, his instincts on balls in play give him an advantage and add to his lateral range. Capable defender at all three infield positions. Left handed hitter that is hit over power. Added strength has added to the bat speed and gives him the potential to add to the power production or ability to generate extra bases. Has been dinged up for a bit, but was back on the field pretty consistently this spring and his production continued to pick up as got more comfortable. |
