HITTER OF THE WEEK

Hazen Elton C / SS / Lehi, UT / 2026

Hazen Elton put on a clinical power display this week, serving as the undisputed engine for a Lehi offense that swept a critical series against #2 Lone Peak. The senior was nearly impossible to retire, launching a home run in each of the three contests to extend his incredible streak to four straight games with a long ball. Elton’s dominance was headlined by a massive four-RBI performance in the series opener, and he finished the three-game stretch with six hits and seven RBIs. With elite barrel control and a 1.250 slugging percentage for the week, Elton has solidified his status as one of the most dangerous middle-of-the-order threats in the 6A classification as the Pioneers prepare for a deep postseason run.

Highlights: 3 GP / 12 AB / 6 H / 3 HR / 7 RBI / 3 R / .500 AVG / 1.250 SLG

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Waylon Sorenson RHP / C / Gunnison Valley High, UT / 2026

Waylon Sorenson turned in a masterful postseason performance this past Saturday, serving as the primary anchor for Gunnison Valley during a high-stakes playoff double-header. Sorenson was absolutely dominant across two separate appearances, totaling 7 scoreless innings while allowing zero hits. In the opening matchup against San Juan, he provided a signature "ace" outing, racking up 14 strikeouts & 0 walks over five frames to earn the win. He then showed his versatility and clutch gene by coming on in relief later that day against ALA, striking out 5 more hitters to secure the 2-inning save. By totaling 19 strikeouts on the day and refusing to yield a single run OR hit, Sorenson provided one of the more dominant performances of the season to date, and looks primed to help lead Gunnison on a deep playoff run.

Highlights: 7.0 IP / 19 K / 0 BB / 0 H / 0 R / 1 W / 1 SV (Playoffs)
