*Summer Showcase Schedule*
Uncommitted Players (Alphabetical)
| |
Shane Beebe C / 3B / Quince Orchard High, MD / 2027The uncommitted junior catcher made a name for himself last spring with some of the more notable doubles power in MoCo, and a look earlier this week hammered down the fact that Beebe is a legit bat to keep eyes on. Beebe ambushed an early count fastball early in the game and sent a deep drive over the left field wall for a homerun, showcasing the present pop that continues to tick up. Controlled barrel speed with strong wrists, this hit tool should continue to evolve as we inch closer to the summer, and look for this to be a notable uncommitted bat in the 2027 class. You can dream on the 6-foot-2, 175-pound frame, and look for more to be added in the coming months. |
| |
Andy Blanck SS / 2B / Broadneck High, MD / 2027A player that continues to impress at the dish, Blanck gets everything out of his 5-foot-10 stature and impacts the baseball at a high rate in each look. Turned around a tough two-strike, 90 mph fastball for a single in my look earlier this month, showcasing feel for the barrel with quick hands and some whip. It’s a line drive approach with the ability to spray line drives to all fields, and the high contact rate only adds value to the projection. |
| |
Mason Hemelt RHP / OF / Patterson Mill High School, MD / 2027There were plenty of fireworks from the Patterson Mill offense when I saw them earlier this week, but no player performed quite like Mason Hemelt did. Hemelt went 3-for-3 with a double and four RBI, leading the charge on the offensive end. A quiet, yet explosive approach at the dish, Hemelt showcases the ability to spray line drives to all fields with present doubles power to the gaps and alleys. Present barrel feel, Hemelt stays within himself and showcases a high-contact, high-average type hit tool that has the ability to stay consistent. |
|
Kohen Madden SS / RHP / Allegany High, MD / 2027The physical 6-foot, 205-pound two-way sparked interest from our staff last spring, and a standout performance at this year’s Prep Baseball West Virginia Preseason All-State showcase only added intrigue as we moved into the 2026 spring. Madden has been a standout at the dish all spring long, earning the Prep Baseball MD “Player of the Week” for Week 4, going 8-for-10 at the dish with two doubles, a homerun, six-RBI while also pitching 6 innings with 11 strikeouts. I got to see the hit tool in-depth in Mid-April, and the sheer size and physicality jumped out at first glance. Strong wrists with whip in the barrel, Madden can spray line drives to all fields with authority, showcasing present power to both gaps and alleys. Swing decisions impressed as well, as Madden will work counts when needed but will ambush at any given moment. This is a hit tool that impresses immensely, and an arm that works the fastball into the upper 80s and low 90s. One of the top uncommitted talents that the 2027 class has to offer. |

Jeremy McConnaughey OF / RHP / Clear Spring High, MD / 2027Highly athletic and versatile prospect, McConnaughey impacts the game in multiple facets and this hit tool is really coming into its own. Long and lean at 6-foot-1, 200-pounds, McConnaughey has really added some strength to the frame and should continue to add some physical maturity as the summer months grow near. I’m a big fan of how the hands work at the dish, showcasing barrel feel and strong wrists that allow some barrel manipulation through the zone. The strength is evident to the pull side with some power upside to the middle of the field, and a high average makeup offensively bodes well for a top-of-the-order prospect at the next level. The arm strength is present in the outfield and the range is there, adding value to versatility. |

Cayden Musick RHP / OF / Boys Latin School of Maryland, MD / 2027An arm that fills it up and pitches to contact, Musick impressed our staff at last year’s Mid-Atlantic State Games, and another impressive showing was on deck earlier this month against Severn. Musick gave up two runs early, but settled in to work a complete game, scattering six hits while striking out three at an impressive 70% strikes. The fastball continues to tick up, getting up to 85 on the day with the ability to mix in spin in any count for strikes and whiffs. The cutter was a dominant pitch on the day, showcasing late cut action in the upper 70s that played out of the same tunnel as the heater, showcasing the ability to mix in a slower breaking ball to mess with timing. Up-tempo delivery with the ability to fill up the zone, Musick uses some hard arm side run with the fastball to get in on right-handed hitters. |
| |
Jesse Orford C / OF / Bethesda-Chevy Chase High, MD / 2028The switch-hitting catcher left no questions unanswered earlier this week, as I was out to see Orford go 3-for-3 with two homeruns, a double, and four RBI at the dish. The pull side power is legit, and we have seen strength showcased to both gaps and alleys with more on the horizon as the body fills out. It’s a tall setup with the ability to create some whip through the zone, showcasing the ability to get the barrel to any pitch in the zone. Swing decisions have been solid in our numerous looks this spring, and as strength is added to the frame, look for this hit tool to really take off this summer. On the bump, Orford got his first appearance to close out the game this week, running the fastball up to 85 with feel for spin in any count. It’s a bat over arm right now, however, the arsenal flashes intrigue and should be something to look forward to this summer. |
|
Jack O'Sullivan 3B / Gilman School, MD / 2028One of the top offensive powerhouses in the 2028 class, O’Sullivan combines plus strength with athleticism and game-changing ability on both sides of the ball. The strength and power is to the pull side, showcasing the ability to pull the hands in and get to inside fastballs on a consistent basis. Doubles power for now, look for this hit tool to sky-rocket this summer with power numbers quickly on the rise, as the offensive makeup has all the ability to be a high-average power type at the next level. |
| |
Jack Rogers RHP / 3B / The Park School, MD / 2027It was my first chance to get eyes on Rogers since last spring, and the velo uptick and ability to mix in any count was certainly nice to see. The fastball lived in the low 80s a year ago, and now consistently sitting 83-85 with the ability to grab a few 86s should only increase as the summer months inch closer. The heater works both sides of the plate with the ability to get in on left-handed hitters, showcasing the ability to miss barrels and create whiffs in and out of the zone. The breaking ball flashes better feel and shape in this more recent look, working the spin to both sides of the plate. Knows how to pitch and should only increase his stock as the strength continues to build. |
|
Logan Scheeler SS / 2B / Patterson Mill High School, MD / 2027Possibly the biggest impact from my point of view was the showing from 2027 shortstop Logan Scheeler. Athletic, versatile defender with the ability to play multiple positions at a high level, Scheeler should be on a ton of coaches' radars when it comes to recruitment at the next level. The arm strength is present and could see Scheeler stay on the left side of the diamond, however, the versatility bodes well for a move to any position on the field. The hit tool sparked on the night, culminating in a loud two-RBI homerun to left field that got out in a hurry. The hands work quick with present barrel whip and a true gap-to-gap line drive approach that has the ability to turn into loud doubles power at the next level. This is a top-of-the-order type hit tool that impacts out the leadoff spot. |
| |
Drew Schraeder C / 1B / Boys Latin School of Maryland, MD / 2027Schraeder made a huge impression on our staff this preseason, and a quick look a the hit tool earlier this month only added value in our eyes. Creates barrel length through the zone with some of the loudest opposite field strength that we’ve seen this spring, the approach is to all fields with evident strength to the middle that should progress into doubles power to the alleys in the near future. |
| |
Isaac Shapiro OF / RHP / The Park School of Baltimore, MD / 2027My first in-depth look at Shapiro, the uncommitted junior certainly made a huge impression with an absolute bomb to left field for a two-RBI homerun. Proportionally strong in the frame, Shapiro showcases a knack for finding the barrel and the aggressive approach plays consistently in-game. There’s some athleticism in the body that builds intrigue as well, and look for more to come this summer out of Shapiro. |
| |
Noah Tomasino OF / RHP / The Park School of Baltimore, MD / 2028A highly intriguing left-handed hitter in the 2028 class, Tomasino has plenty of power upside with a knack for finding the barrel, showcasing the ability to hit for authority to all fields. It’s a balanced approach at the dish, creating some barrel length through the zone that opens up the power when the hands get extended. Some hand speed through should increase as the physicality is added to the frame, and look for this to be a player in a loaded 2028 class that continues to tick up. |
| |
Colt Wanner LHP / OF / The Severn School, MD / 2029Big fan of this freshman two-way. Didn’t get the chance to see the arm on the day, but the hit tool certainly brought some intrigue. It’s balanced approach at the dish with the ability to slash line drives to all fields, with power quickly on the horizon as the frame fills. The consistency is something that stood out to me, staying within himself and working the counts when needed. Possibly under the radar right now in a pretty hefty 2029 class across MD, look for Wanner to open some eyes this summer as he leads into what should be a huge Sophomore campaign. |
| |
Owen Zartman SS / 3B / Leonardtown High, MD / 2027A player that continues to breakout this spring, Zartman leads the SMAC in homeruns and RBI following yet another game with a bomb and multiple RBI. This hit tool continues to spark throughout the state, and the pull-side power is legit. Quick hands with whip in the barrel, Zartman stays true to a controlled, aggressive approach looking to do damage in every AB. More power to come, as the body still has room to add some physicality, and the athleticism bodes well for versatility at the next level. If you’re looking for an impact bat with present power, Zartman is certainly a name to circle in the uncommitted 2027 class. |
