Every week, coaches around the state submit their nominations for the Prep Baseball California Player of the Week for NorCal and SoCal. Week 10 Players of the Week honors went to Jeremiah Jennings (Madison, 2026) and Xavi Cadena (El Dorado, 2026). Jennings delivered a dominant outing, striking out 17 while allowing just one hit against Mira Mesa. On the season, Jennings has thrown 40.1 innings with a 1.73 ERA, 63 strikeouts, and a 0.94 WHIP, including a no-hitter earlier in the year. Cadena had a strong offensive showing, going 3-for-6 with two home runs, two walks, two RBIs, and two runs in a league win over La Habra. He is now hitting .360 (27-for-75) with 16 runs, 21 RBIs, four doubles, one triple, and seven home runs.
With several other impressive performances across the past week that were in the mix for both awards and deserve recognition, here is a rundown of some of the other standouts of the week. WEEK 10 DIAMOND NOTES
+ Damian Catano, LHP/1B (Arcadia, 2026) — St. Mary’s commit
Catano turned in a dominant two-way performance against Burbank, tossing a complete-game two-hit shutout with 15 strikeouts and no walks, while also hitting a solo home run in a 5-0 win. Catano is now 6-4 with a 1.47 ERA over 57 innings, totaling 72 strikeouts and 12 walks.
+ Jake Ourique, RHP (Gahr, 2026) — Oregon commit
Ourique delivered a strong outing, throwing six innings while allowing three hits and one run (zero earned) with no walks and 13 strikeouts to earn the win. On the season, Ourique has thrown 42 innings with 60 strikeouts, allowing just six earned runs and six walks.
+ Caden Frantzich, LHP (Clovis, 2026)
Frantzich tossed a complete-game no-hitter against Clovis East, throwing seven innings on just 86 pitches while striking out five. He controlled the game efficiently from start to finish. On the season, Frantzich is 4-1 with a 2.31 ERA over 33.1 innings.
+ Wilson Morales, RHP (San Mateo, 2028)
Morales delivered a dominant no-hitter, throwing nine innings with nine strikeouts while allowing no hits and just two walks. On the season, Morales is 4-0 with a 1.31 ERA.
+ Braden Makley, RHP (Granada, 2027)
Makley turned in another dominant performance against Amador Valley, throwing 6+ innings while allowing just one run with 12 strikeouts and no walks. Makley is 6-2 with a 0.88 ERA over 48 innings, totaling 66 strikeouts, 29 hits allowed, and just six walks.
+ Ehkam Braich, RHP/DH (Washington-Fremont, 2026) — Menlo commit
Braich delivered his fourth straight league complete game, throwing seven innings while allowing four hits and striking out six. On the season, he is 4-0 in league play with four straight complete games.
+ Mason Hackler, RHP (Turlock, 2027)
Hackler tossed a no-hitter over six innings, allowing just one walk while striking out 12 and facing only 18 batters. On the season, Hackler has recorded 75 strikeouts with 11 walks over 54 innings, posting a 1.81 ERA.
+ Joey Raffo, RHP (Harbor, 2026) — UC Davis commit
Raffo delivered a strong outing on the mound, throwing six innings while allowing three hits, striking out 10, and walking just one in a key league win. He also contributed offensively, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. On the season, Raffo is 3-3 with a 1.77 ERA and 66 strikeouts over 36 innings.
+ Brody Shields, RHP (Lower Lake, 2026)
Shields delivered a dominant performance, striking out 14 while allowing just one hit in a shutout against Upper Lake.
+ Ashton Hartman, C (Lower Lake, 2026)
Hartman contributed on both sides, going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs against St. Helena, while also recording two pick-offs from behind the plate.
+ Aiden Echavarria, RHP (Whittier Christian, 2027)
Echavarria tossed a complete-game shutout, throwing seven innings while allowing two hits with 11 strikeouts and two walks. On the season, Echavarria has thrown 39.1 innings with 63 strikeouts, posting a 1.60 ERA, 0.915 WHIP, and a .169 opponent batting average.
