Texas Diamond Notes: Week 9

The Texas Diamond Notes will focus on highlighting some of the top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Tuesday evening of the high school season that had impressive weeks during their team's games.
A special thank you to all of the high school coaches for nominating their players.
WEEK 9 DIAMOND NOTES
+ Landon Carlisle, Pitcher (Weatherford, 2026; Grayson JC):
Carlisle pitched six innings, allowing one earned run on two hits while striking out 15 batters. This dominant performance helped his team beat Boswell in a must-win game.
+ Tre Castillo, Pitcher/CF (Granger, 2028):
On the mound, Castillo pitched a six-inning complete-game one-hitter, allowing one walk and striking out 11 batters to clinch the first seed in his district's small school division. At the plate, he went 4-for-6, hitting a double, a triple, and a home run while driving in five and scoring four runs. For the season, he boasts a .526 batting average and has recorded 53 strikeouts over 26 innings pitched.
+ Kason Ficarra, SS (Cinco Ranch, 2026; Angelina JC):
Ficarra went 5-for-8 at the plate, hitting a triple and a home run while collecting five RBI.

+ Cooper Kent, Pitcher (Bosqueville, 2026; Sul Ross State):
Kent earned two wins over 10 innings pitched. He completely shut down opposing offenses, allowing zero runs, two hits, and two walks while striking out 15 batters.
+ Jayston Marquez, Pitcher (Cinco Ranch, 2029):
Marquez pitched a five-inning perfect game. He allowed zero hits, zero walks, and zero hit-by-pitches while striking out three batters. Impressively, this marked his second no-hitter of the season.
+ Fabian Ortega, Shortstop (Weatherford, 2026):
Ortega posted a .714 batting average by going 5-for-7 at the plate, collecting one double, two RBI, four runs scored, and one stolen base. He notably led the team by going a perfect 4-for-4 in a must-win game against Boswell.
+ Cody Sawyer, SS (Kingwood, 2027; Dartmouth):
Sawyer recorded a .429 batting average last week. His offensive stat line included two doubles, one home run, four RBI, and three runs scored.
+ Jakson Struwe, P/SS (Little Cypress Mauriceville, 2027):
Over two games, Struwe was only out one time in eight at-bats, posting an .800 batting average and an .875 on-base percentage by going 4-for-5. He hit three doubles and tallied one RBI, four runs scored, three walks, and two stolen bases. He also earned a win on the mound on Tuesday, pitching six innings and allowing one earned run while striking out nine batters and holding opponents to a .200 batting average. For the season, he is batting .405 with a .522 on-base percentage, a 1.238 OPS, nine doubles, four triples, two home runs, 19 RBI, 23 runs scored, and a 60.33 QAB%.
