LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - The Prep Baseball California High School Hitter of the Week highlights the best individual pitching performance for a California high school player from the previous week.  Each week, high school coaches are emailed and asked to send in their nominees for Pitcher and Player of the Week.  If you wish to nominate someone for Player or Pitcher of the Week, please be sure to fill out this form before noon on Mondays. 

While there can only be one pitcher and player of the week, our Diamond Notes, which are released every Wednesday, are intended to shine a spotlight on other noteworthy performances from the previous week.

WEEK 8 HITTER OF THE WEEK

2028 Jayden Morales, Maranatha High School

Sophomore infielder Jayden Morales has established himself as one of the top hitters for the Minutemen this season and last week was a further indication of his abilities at the plate and on the mound.

Morales was 4-for-5 and 5-for-5 on back-to-back days and chipped in with another three hits in the Minutemen’s four games last week. He finished 12-for-16 with three doubles and a triple. He also plated seven runs and drove in five others. Morales pitched five innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win in one of those games as the Minutemen went 3-0 on the week outscoring their opponents 52-5 on the week. 

For the season, Morales is slashing .455/.545/.709 with 15 RBI, six doubles and two home runs. He’s also 6-1 on the mound with a 1.24 ERA with just a single walk and 20 strikeouts over 15 innings pitched.
