We will be doing the Mizuno Player of the Week honors at the beginning of each week with submissions due to [email protected] by 8:00 PM Sunday night.

Each week we go through all the box scores from throughout the week as well as look at submissions turned in by high school coaches to pick our Player of the Week.  There were numerous players with impressive weeks both at the plate and on the mound, but Ryder Gibson's 20 strikeout performance in district play brings home the honors.

Gibson punched out the first 10 hitters he faced on Monday night before he would issue a walk and allow the first baserunner. The lone run he gave up would come in the 7th on his way to 20 punchouts. On the night, Gibson showcased the swing and miss stuff you would anticipate in that type of performance. Of his 20 strikeouts, 13 came on swing and miss as the right hander navigated the opposing lineup. Gibson's final stat line of 7 IP, 2 H, ER, and 20 strikeouts makes him our Mizuno Player of the Week for Week Seven.
