NOTABLE TEAMS IN WEEK 8 MOVING UP 📈

Spanish Fork

The Spanish Fork Dons (18-3) have reclaimed their throne as the #1 team in the state, looking every bit like a 5A championship juggernaut. The Dons put together a flawless week of play, headlined by a dominant primetime win on the road, and a region series sweep where their pitching staff surrendered minimal traffic while the offense continued to fire on all cylinders. Led by elite performances from TCU commit Kayden Lambson and the relentless bat of SLCC commit Matai Johnson, Spanish Fork is playing with a level of confidence and precision that makes them a daunting opponent. With 18 wins now under their belt and a rotation that refuses to blink, the Dons enter the home stretch of the regular season with all the momentum of a legitimate state title favorite.

Layton

The Layton Lancers (15-5) have been one of the hottest teams in the 6A classification, surging up the rankings to the #12 spot. Over the past week, the Lancers showcased their resilience and depth, securing crucial region victories that highlighted their high-end pitching and timely hitting. Layton’s ability to navigate high-pressure situations has been a hallmark of their 15-5 season, often finding ways to pull away in the late innings against quality opponents. With a roster that is peaking at the perfect time and a defense that remains one of the cleanest in the state, the Lancers are establishing themselves as a dangerous "dark horse" capable of a deep run in the state tournament.

Ridgeline

The Ridgeline Riverhawks (18-6) continue to be a force in the 4A ranks, boasting one of the highest win totals in the state and climbing to #13 this week. The Riverhawks enjoyed a highly productive week, stacking wins behind a rotation that consistently finds the zone and an offense that capitalizes on every situational opportunity. Their balanced approach and veteran leadership have been the keys to a season defined by consistency, as they have rarely stumbled against top-tier competition. As they enter the final stretch of the regular season, Ridgeline’s blend of power and strike-throwing makes them a major factor in the 4A championship conversation.

Wasatch

The Wasatch Wasps (14-7) have put together a stellar 2026 campaign, maintaining a firm presence in the Top 20 as they continue to challenge the elite tier of 5A. This past week saw the Wasps display their trademark grit, grinding out key wins that further solidified their standing in a very competitive region landscape. With a lineup that creates constant havoc on the basepaths and a pitching staff that competes on every single pitch, Wasatch is playing some of their most inspired baseball of the year. Their ability to win the "close ones" has battle-tested this roster, making them a team no one wants to see on the schedule come playoff time.

Crimson Cliffs

The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs (14-10) have battled back into the Top 25 rankings, landing at #24 following a resurgent week that saw them regain their early-season swagger. The Mustangs have found their stride recently, showcasing the high-octane offense and elite athleticism that made them a preseason favorite. By putting together a string of gritty, high-scoring victories over the past seven days, Crimson Cliffs has reminded the state why they remain one of the most dangerous programs in the 4A classification. With their 14-10 record and the momentum of a late-season surge, the Mustangs are a team with the experience and talent necessary for a massive postseason push.
