PBKC Challenge: Tournament Preview

It's Thursday once again and another tournaments' eve has come upon us in Kansas City. The upcoming weekend brings a clean slate with it as none of last year's tournament winners have decided to come defend their title. With that being said there are still plenty of quality organizations bringing their best into the Challenge to come and compete for a banner.

Teams to watch

Inside Edge - Asher has hit the ground running this spring with a couple of deep into Sunday runs with PBKC in the last month. Inside Edge boasts a strong top half of the lineup while sharing the load on the hill and playing sound defense. If they can put a full team effort on display it would be to no ones surprise to see them making another strong push for a banner this weekend. The Kansas Vortex delivered a strong team pitching performance their last time with PBKC holding onto a lowly 2.67 average runs against in a small sample size. If they can repeat their performance on the mound and come up with a couple more clutch hits this weekend the Vortex would find themselves in a prime position to be contending for a title. Of the newcomers at the D1 level the most intriguing team of the list is 13u Canes Midwest National looking to challenge themselves playing up with the 14s this weekend. In D2, Cavaliers - Maroon will look to continue their winning ways boasting a 4-1 PBKC record after winning the silver bracket in the Super Select last weekend, and with a considerable 1-2 punch in the top of their order there's no doubt they will find a way to manufacture runs and find themselves into position to put some more games in the win column. Prodigy Express is another team to watch at the D2 level boasting a strong lineup capable of manufacturing runs, if they can find some strong innings on the mound this weekend they could very easily be holding a banner Sunday afternoon. At the D3 level Canes GP-Oma boasts an average run differential per game of 5 in a small sample size, we look forward to seeing if this can carry into the weekend and translate to some wins in the Challenge.
