WIAA Diamond Notes: Week 3

Each week, WIAA coaches around the state submit to us their nominations for the Prep Baseball Wisconsin Player of the Week and Prep Baseball Wisconsin Pitcher of the Week honors. Yesterday, we awarded the Week 3 Player of the Week to SS Jace Mataczynski (Hudson, 2026; Auburn), Mataczynski finished the week going 6-for-14 with three home runs, a double and seven RBIs. The Pitcher of the Week is RHP Colton Arpke (Crivitz, 2028), The sophomore tossed an 18 strikeout performance, a school record, against Niagara helping them to a perfect 3-0 week. 

There were a number of other impressive performances that were in the mix for the award and deserve recognition. Here’s a look at some of the most notable.

Week 3 Diamond Notes

+ Prescott Sanford, LHP, RF (Franklin, 2027):
Sanford delivered a dominating performance against St. Thomas More after a challenging start to the game. He went 3-for-5 at the plate with two walks, two doubles, and three RBIs. On the mound across two appearances against Racine Park and St. Thomas More, he pitched eight innings, allowing five hits and two walks while striking out 16.


+ Isaiah Ahlberg, C/RHP (Solon Springs, 2026):
Ahlberg drove in the only run of a 1-0 victory against Bruce with a safety squeeze in the bottom of the fifth inning. He earned the win on the mound, pitching 6 ⅔ innings and allowing no runs. He gave up only one hit and zero walks while striking out 15. At the plate, he went 3-for-6 with five walks, one double, five RBIs, and six stolen bases.


+ RJ Meddaugh, RHP (Tri-County, 2027):
Meddaugh had an exceptional performance at the plate, going 5-for-6 with five RBIs and one stolen base. On the mound against Wild Rose, he pitched five innings and allowed no runs. He allowed zero hits and one walk while striking out 14 batters.


+ Sam Ortiz, RHP/INF (Franklin, 2026):
Ortiz contributed effectively on the mound, in the field, and at the plate. He went 7-for-12 hitting with two walks, one double, four RBIs, and two stolen bases. Against Racine Park, he pitched five innings and allowed no runs on two hits and two walks, while striking out 10.


+ Montgomery O'Brien, LHP (Tosa East, 2026):
O'Brien returned from injury and hit a single to give his team the lead late in game one against Brookfield Central. He then pitched a five-inning, weather-shortened complete game shutout in the second game of the series, allowing no runs on one hit and one walk with 10 strikeouts. At the plate, he went 2-for-6 with two walks and one RBI.


+ Carter Heroux, RHP (Oconto Falls, 2026):
Heroux threw a seven-inning complete game shutout against Luxembourg Casco. He allowed no runs on two hits and one walk while striking out 10 batters.


+ Landon Schwarz, 1B/P (Milton, 2027):
Schwarz went 4-for-7 at the plate during the week. On the mound against Waunakee, he pitched six innings allowing two runs, six hits, and three walks while striking out eight.


+ Parker Lawson, RHP (Bay Port, 2026):
Lawson threw a seven-inning complete game shutout against Notre Dame. He allowed no runs on four hits and zero walks while striking out seven batters.


+ Gavin Reilly, 2B/RHP (Mukwonago, 2027):
Reilly was highly productive at the plate, going 8-for-14 with two walks, one hit-by-pitch, four doubles, and 10 RBIs. He also recorded two stolen bases. On the mound against Indian Trail, he pitched four innings and allowed no runs on two hits and one walk, while striking out six.


+ Caleb Johns , OF/P (New Berlin Eisenhower , 2026):
Johns highlighted his week with a two-home run game at the Prep Baseball Classic at The Rock. He also recorded three stolen bases. On the mound against Pewaukee, he pitched three innings and allowed no runs, on six hits and one walk, while striking out five.


+ Logan Wondra, SS/RHP (Solon Springs, 2029):
Wondra went 4-for-8 at the plate with three walks, one double, four RBIs, and two stolen bases. He also made two relief appearances totaling three innings, earning one win and one save. He allowed three hits and struck out four.


+ Carsen Splinter, RHP (Southwestern , 2026):
Splinter pitched a complete game against Cuba City, allowing no runs on seven hits and zero walks while striking out three. At the plate, he went 1-for-3 with one RBI.


+ Zack Steichen, 1B, RF, LHP (Brookfield East, 2027):
Steichen delivered the save in a game against New Berlin Eisenhower. He pitched one inning and allowed no runs, zero hits, and zero walks while striking out one. At the plate, he went 4-for-6 with one double, two RBIs, and two stolen bases.


+ Tavin Nass, C (Franklin, 2028):
Nass hit a three-run home run to center field against St. Thomas More at the Prep Baseball Invite. He was exceptional at the plate during the week, going 7-for-13 with one triple, one home run, and nine RBIs.


+ Dieter Pommer, C (West Bend West , 2026):
Pommer delivered multiple clutch at-bats to help his team sweep ranked Kewaskum, including a two-RBI double in game one and a home run in game two. He went 8-for-11 overall with two walks, one double, one home run, and eight RBIs.


+ Dillon Herling, CF (Franklin, 2027):
Herling hit a home run in the first inning against St. Thomas More. He went 5-for-10 at the plate with two walks, one double, one triple, one home run, six RBIs, and two stolen bases.


+ Cayden Heier, 3B (Bay Port, 2026):
Heier hit a three-run home run against Escanaba. He finished the week going 3-for-6 with two walks, one double, one home run, and five RBIs.


+ Ezra Ahlberg, 3B/C (Solon Springs, 2028):
Ahlberg went 3-for-7 at the plate with four walks, two doubles, one home run, four RBIs, and three stolen bases.


+ Cooper Haas, LF (Brookfield East, 2027):
Haas hit the game-winning home run to defeat New Berlin Eisenhower and ended the game with a critical catch against the wall. He went 3-for-6 at the plate with two doubles, one home run, and four RBIs.


+ Bennett Schueller, 1B (Franklin, 2026):
Schueller provided consistent offensive production all week, going 7-for-8 at the plate. He added four walks, one double, four RBIs, and two stolen bases to his totals.


+ Jackson Suttle, C/3B (Brookfield East, 2028):
Suttle fell just a home run short of the cycle against Menomonee Falls and drove in two key runs against New Berlin Eisenhower. He finished the week going 4-for-6 with one double, one triple, and four RBIs.


+ Carson Hawley, CF (Bay Port, 2026):
Hawley hit a key two-run home run against Escanaba. He went 3-for-6 at the plate with two walks, one double, one home run, and three RBIs.


+ Tommy Berg, SS/OF (Bay Port, 2026):
Berg went 4-for-8 at the plate with four walks and three RBIs. He also recorded two stolen bases.


+ Nick Firle, RF (Franklin, 2026):
Firle went 5-for-10 at the plate with six walks and two RBIs. He was also aggressive on the basepaths, recording three stolen bases.


+ Easton Agnew, RF (Milton, 2026):
Agnew went 4-for-6 at the plate with two walks, two doubles, and two RBIs. He also added two stolen bases.


+ Jesse Sobczak, LF (Catholic Memorial, 2027):
Sobczak went 6-for-8 at the plate with two walks and one RBI. He was very active on the bases, finishing with six stolen bases.
