National Player of the Week: 4/13 to 4/19
April 24, 2026

Today, we’re announcing our eighth National Player of the Week of the 2026 campaign with seasons in parts of the country entering postseason play, while others are just starting to get into some consistently good weather.
The following players were submitted by their coaches to our state directors and they went on to earn the Player or Pitcher of the Week award in those states. From there, we sifted through the country’s POTWs and selected the top performer among them, singling them out as the sole National Player of the Week. If you’re a coach interested in submitting a nomination this season but have not yet received that form so far this spring, visit our staff directory to find the contact information for the state director overseeing your state’s season coverage.
Our staff took player stat lines from the week of April 13 to 19 into account when determining these awards.

Alex Weingartner OF / RHP / St. Augustine Prep, NJ / 2026“New Jersey's No. 1-ranked player overall led the Hermits to three wins in three contests with an extremely productive week on both sides of the ball. Weingartner was 9-for-11 ultimately finished 9-for-11 with two home runs, a triple, and seven RBIs with three steals. He had at least two hits in each of the team's three wins, including a 5-for-5 start to the week on April 13 at Hammonton. He's generally seated atop St. Augustine Prep's lineup and he got the start in their matchup with Holy Ghost where he tossed five shutout innings and allowed just one hit, two walks, and K'd 11 after K'ing the side in a one-inning appearance on Tuesday.” – Nathan Goranson, Northeast Asst. Scout Weingartner was one of the biggest and buzziest names of the winter after a memorable performance at February's Super 60 Pro Showcase in Chicago and he's continued to perform like a must-see attraction on the East Coast this spring. |
STATE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Alabama

+ Charlie Cutler, RHP/1B (Saint James HS, 2026) | Itawamba CC:
“Cutler, an Itawamba CC recruit, put together a monster week at the plate, going 11-for-15 (.733) with 4 home runs, including two grand slams, along with three doubles and 16 RBIs. He consistently delivered in big moments, showcasing significant power and run-producing ability while anchoring the lineup.”
+ Drew Jackson, LHP/OF (American Christian Academy HS, 2028) | Uncommitted:
“Jackson delivered one of the most dominant pitching performances of the week, tossing a complete-game no-hitter in a 3-0 area win over Northside. The sophomore southpaw worked all seven innings, allowing no hits and no runs while striking out 11 and issuing just two walks. Jackson controlled the game from start to finish, showcasing poise, command, and the ability to miss bats in a statement outing.”
– David Sharp, Deep South Supervisor
Arizona

+ Brock Reichwein, LHP (Perry HS, 2027) | Pitt:
“Brock earns Pitcher of the Week honors after turning in one of the most impressive outings of the season, shutting down the top-ranked team in the state in a complete, controlled performance. The former Future Gamer and current Pitt commit went right at Casteel's lineup, working 5 shutout innings while allowing just four hits, showing the ability to limit damage and keep one of the most dangerous offenses in Arizona off the board.
The 2027 left-hander continues to trend upward with a highly projectable frame at 6-foot-5, 175 pounds, pairing it with a loose, whippy arm and clean, repeatable delivery. There is clear upside here as he continues to sync the arm, with the foundation of a high level starter already in place.
Brock’s ability to execute, compete, and control the game against elite competition stands out, and this performance further cements him as one of the top arms to follow in Arizona’s 2027 class.”
+ Luke McNabb, OF (Crismon HS, 2027) | Uncommitted:
“Bottom of the seventh, two outs, bases loaded, down three, this is the kind of moment every kid has played out a thousand times in the backyard. This time, it was real and McNabb delivered, launching a walk-off grand slam to cap one of the most electric performances of the season and earn the state's 'Hitter of the Week' honors. The 2027 centerfielder was a driving force for Crismon Rattlers all week, stacking impact at the plate and showing up when it mattered most.
The swing that ended it will get the headlines, but the full body of work shows a hitter trending in a big way. McNabb consistently found barrels across both games, collecting multiple extra base hits while driving in nine runs and scoring five times. There is a real presence in the box with a confident, aggressive approach, pairing strength with feel for the barrel to create loud contact to all fields. The ability to slow the moment down and deliver in a high leverage spot like that speaks to his confidence in the box and the overall offensive upside.
Moments like that define seasons, and Luke’s performance this week puts him on the radar as a 2027 follow moving forward.”
– Antonio Torres, State Director
Arkansas

+ Cooper Bode, OF (Brookland HS, 2026) | South Arkansas JC:
“Bode shined bright for his team en route to a 4-0 week. At the plate, the senior went 12-for-15 with 11 RBIs and 10 runs scored. On the mound, Bode was just as dominant as he picked up his second straight no-hitter as he tossed five no-hit innings against Poplar Bluff and picked up six punch-outs along the way.”
– Mikel Howell, Arkansas Asst. Director
Colorado

+ Ethan Wachsmann, RHP (Grandview HS, 2026) | Wake Forest:
“Colorado’s No. 1 overall prospect brought absolutely electric stuff during last week’s action, tossing a seven-inning no-hitter with eight strikeouts against Mullen in a tight 1-0 ballgame. This marks Wachsmann’s second complete-game no-hitter within the past year, and the Wake Forest commit continues his meteoric rise with a fastball that has already touched 100 mph this season, which has sounded the alarm for MLB scouts in the four-corners region.
Wachsmann’s arsenal is headlined by that elite velocity, but he also shows outlier feel for spin, with the ability to shape multiple pitches. His breaking balls spin around 3,000 rpm, and he mixes in a quality kick-change to give a different look to left-handed hitters. This spring, he’s taken another step forward with a cut fastball in the 87-88 mph range, featuring exceptional spin (around 2,800 rpm) and sharp lateral movement. That pitch pairs well with his four-seam fastball, which shows ride through the zone and spin north of 2,500 rpm.
Don’t be surprised if Wachsmann makes noise as a Colorado ‘Player of the Year’ candidate down the stretch of the CHSAA season. He currently owns 37 strikeouts in just 21 innings, allowing only six walks, nine hits, while posting a 1.00 ERA.”
– Caleb Dameron, Colorado Asst. Director
Illinois

+ Will Bemrich, LHP (Mundelein HS, 2026) | Parkland JC:
“The southpaw fired a complete-game no-hitter against a strong Stevenson club, scattering one earned run on a fielder’s choice, three walks and seven strikeouts in a 10-1 win.
Bemlich is a 6-foot-3 southpaw currently ranked No. 164 in the state, pairing projection with present ability on the mound. He’s a clean and loose mover with a long-levered operation, giving opposing hitters a tough look from a lower slot. The fastball will play in the mid-80s with natural sink/run, pairing with a sweeping slider and heavy fading changeup.”
+ Tate Sauer, SS (Centennial HS, 2027) | Uncommitted:
“Sauer had a week to remember at the plate, going 8-for-11 last week with every hit going for extra bases including four home runs, a triple, three doubles, 15 RBIs, seven runs scored, three walks, a sac fly and four stolen bases.
He started things off on Monday in a big 18-0 win over Peoria – going a perfect 3-for-3 with seven RBIs, three runs scored, two home runs and a triple. They played Peoria again later that day and won handedly by the score of 12-2, with Sauer going 1-for-3 with a double, three RBIs, a run scored and a hit-by-pitch. Though they lost Friday to Peoria Notre Dame, Sauer still continued to swing it at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run, double, two RBIs and two runs scored.
He stayed hot into the weekend, going 2-for-2 Saturday against Bismark-Henning with another home run, double, three RBIs, run scored and two walks.”
– Peter Hamot, Illinois & Wisconsin Asst. Scouting Director
Indiana

+ Gannon Grant, RHP (Center Grove HS, 2026) | Tennessee:
“Grant picked back up after injury with a loud Week Three to earn Indiana's Player of the Week honors. In his first start back, he threw a complete-game, one-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts and the lone hit was the lone baserunner he allowed all night. The Tennessee recruit also added a 4-for-8 week at the dish, including three home runs and nine RBIs as No. 1-ranked Center Grove went 2-0 on the week.”
– Cooper Trinkle, Indiana State Director
Kansas

+ Grey Sanders, RHP (Mulvane HS, 2026) | Kansas:
“Grey Sanders was on an entirely different level this past week, delivering two dominant outings for the No. 5-ranked Mulvane Wildcats. Over eight innings of work, he racked up 20 strikeouts while allowing no hits, no runs, and just three walks across two outings. He opened the week by striking out the side to earn a save against Andale/Garden Plain, then followed that performance with a masterful seven-inning, complete-game no-hitter against McPherson, where he tallied 17 punchouts.”
– Eliott Wilk, Central Region Ops. Director
Kentucky

+ Jakob Reed, RHP (St. Xavier HS, 2027) | Air Force:
“The 2025 Future Games standout turned in an extra efficient and dominant outing, tossing a complete game no-hitter in a run-rule victory over then-No. 11-ranked Male. The 5-foot-8, 153-pound right-hander was in complete control all game long, working five innings and allowing no hits and no runs, with just one walk and five strikeouts. Reed needed only 48 pitches to finish the job, attacking the zone early and often while keeping hitters off balance throughout. Reed has been a key piece of a loaded Tigers pitching staff this spring, now up to 16 innings across four starts, allowing just eight earned runs with four walks and 19 Ks as St. X continues to face a challenging schedule. His ability to compete and throw strikes consistently has made him a reliable option on the mound and one of the most competitive mound presences in the state. The Air Force commit impressed at last year’s Future Games at LakePoint, where he ran his fastball over 90 mph, pairing it with a firm changeup and a sharp slider with spin rates north of 2,500 rpm.”
+ Noah Spalding, RHP/1B (Marion County HS, 2026) | Louisville:
“The senior two-way spearheaded an incredible week for the Knights as the offense erupted across four games, outscoring opponents by a staggering 54-1 margin. Spalding was at the center of it all, turning in a near-perfect week at the plate by going 7-for-8 (.875) with eight runs scored and 11 RBIs. He piled up 18 total bases with six extra-base hits, including three doubles, a triple, and two home runs. Despite being limited to just eight at-bats, the 6-foot-4, 250-pound righty made his presence known when he got the chance. Spalding drew four walks, three of them intentional, and added two hit-by-pitches. In his 14 plate appearances, Spalding reached base 13 times, good for an absurd .929 on-base percentage. The only time he was retired all week came on a sacrifice fly in the first inning against Fort Knox, highlighting a nightmare offensive showing for opposing arms. On the season, Spalding continues to lead the Marion County offense, hitting .571 with 16 hits, 25 runs scored, 23 RBI, and 12 extra-base hits including six home runs. He’s also added 17 walks and 13 stolen bases, showcasing the combination of physical strength and athleticism.
The Louisville commit also made a case for 'Pitcher of the Week,' firing six scoreless innings with 17 strikeouts in a start against Washington County. Ranked as the No. 2 right-hander and No. 4 overall prospect in Kentucky’s 2026 class, Spalding continues to prove why he’s one of the premier two-way talents in the state.”
– Jamie Tessoff, Kentucky State Director
Maryland

+ Daniel Metz, OF (Hereford HS, 2026) | Harford CC:
“Metz had five total home runs last week, including a four-homer game to start out the week. He ended the week hitting .727 with five homers, seven RBIs and seven runs scored.”
– Jamie Naill, Maryland State Director
North Carolina

+ Jacob Seamon, OF/SS (Metrolina Christian Academy HS, 2027) | LSU:
“Seamon delivered a complete offensive week, going 7-for-12 (.583) with two home runs, a double, a triple, seven runs scored, and 10 RBIs. The standout performance came against Hickory Grove Christian, where he finished 4-for-5 with four runs and six RBIs, hitting for the cycle, showcasing both impact power and barrel consistency. Seamon continued to produce against quality competition, including a home run versus Gaston Christian. He closed the week with a .614 OBP and a 1.333 slugging percentage, leading Metrolina Christian to a 2-1 record on the week as they continue to flirt with the Prep Baseball National Top-50.”
+ Duncan Carver, RHP (AC Reynolds HS, 2028) | Uncommitted:
“Carver turned in a big outing against North Carolina's No. 17 team in their Power 25, TC Roberson. He tossed a complete-game win with 7 innings of 2-hit, 1-run (0 ER) baseball while striking out 12 and issuing no walks. Carver carried a no-hitter through four innings and closed the game by striking out the final three hitters. His performance secured a key split in the series with the Rams. On the season, Carver improves to 7-1 with 52 strikeouts, a 1.36 ERA, and a 0.90 WHIP, continuing to establish himself as one of the top arms in the 2028 class.”
– Brandon Hall, Mid-Atlantic Scouting Director
North Dakota

+ Cason Borchardt, OF/LHP (Horace HS, 2027) | Oregon:
“The No. 2-ranked junior in the Dakotas is also a top-175 player nationally, and Borchardt showed why last week for his North Dakota high school. The Oregon recruit finished 6-for-13 with five extra-base hits, including three homers, that drove in eight runs. He also threw five innings on the mound and allowed just two hits, no walks, and he K'd 12.”
– Andy Judkins, Minnesota State Director
Oregon

+ Zadek Bowlby, INF (Newberg HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“The senior had a big offensive week, batting .500 with four extra-base hits to win Oregon ‘HOTW’ honors. Bowlby slugged two home runs and two doubles, scoring two runs and logging six RBIs overall. The multi-sport athlete has been a force in the middle of the Newberg lineup this spring.”
+ Charley Chipps, RHP (La Salle Catholic HS, 2027) | Uncommitted:
“The La Salle Catholic arm was on top of his game last week, throwing six perfect innings to win the state’s ‘Pitcher of the Week’ honors. Chipps allowed no runs on no hits with zero walks, striking out 12 in his impressive outing. The junior builds on a fantastic showing at PNW Preseason All-State, the preseason's top invite-only event, this winter.”
– Dylan Grenz, Pacific Northwest Asst. Scouting Director
Pennsylvania

+ Jaden Freeze, OF,SS,RHP (South Western HS, 2028) | Uncommitted:
“Jaden Freeze led South Western High to a 3-0 week by going 7-for-10 with two homers, two triples, and three RBIs. He also made two appearances on the mound without allowing a run in 6.2 innings with three hits and six Ks. He even stayed hot this week, going 4-for-5 with six steals in the Mustangs' latest victory.”
– Nathan Goranson, Northeast Asst. Scout
Washington

+ James Gill III, 1B/LHP (Battle Ground HS, 2026) | Washington:
“The two-time league POTY swung it well last week to win Washington's Hitter of the Week award. The Washington commit went 5-for-7, slugging two home runs and driving in five RBIs overall. The lefty also added three runs scored and four walks as a part of his big week. Gill is a dynamic two-way talent and a key piece on a Power 25 squad.”
+ Tanner Requa, RHP (Stanwood HS, 2026) | Everett CC:
“The Stanwood High arm was exceptional on the mound last week. Requa threw a seven-inning complete game without allowing a single hit or run, walking just one batter while striking out 13. The Everett CC commit was on top of his game, building on a strong look this winter at PNW Preseason All-State.”
– Dylan Grenz, Pacific Northwest Asst. Scouting Director
Wisconsin

+ Colton Arpke, RHP (Crivitz HS, 2028) | Uncommitted:
“The sophomore tossed an 18-strikeout performance, a school record, against Niagara helping them to a perfect 3-0 week. In his first appearance of the season, the right-hander tossed a seven inning complete game, allowing only four baserunners the entire game on three hits and a walk while filling up the zone.
The two-way prospect is also a top-of-the-order bat for the undefeated Wolverines, and he reaches base at a high clip as well as doing the majority of the catching behind the dish for a competitive Crivitz squad.”
– Josh Fields, Wisconsin Asst. Scouting Director
+ Jace Mataczynski, SS (Hudson HS, 2026) | Auburn:
“Mataczynski has been on a tear to start the year, plenty of helium surrounding the Wisconsin shortstop heading into the MLB Draft with loud performances starting to stack up. Helping the Raiders to a 4-0 week last week, including an upset victory over Muskego in what was a 'game of the year' kind of environment between the top two teams on the state's Power 25. Ultimately, he finished 6-for-14 on the week with three home runs, a double and seven RBIs. He started off his week off on Tuesday against Eau Claire North, going 1-for-3 with a walk, Thursday against North going 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored.
Then a four-hit day on Saturday across two contests, the first against Muskego going 3-for-5 at the plate with a three run home run in a clutch spot, coming up a triple short of the cycle on the game. Earned the win on the mound as well, tossing the final four innings striking out six batters. He would swat another two-run home run to right-center field the next game in a narrow victory over Hartford Union, finishing the game going 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run while playing standout defense all day.
One of the top MLB Draft prospects in the Badger State and his draft stock is pointed straight up as we progress through the spring. The defense is capable of being a carrying tool throughout his playing career while the right-handed swing pairs natural bat-to-ball ability with a stronger more mature frame seeing regular and consistent impact showing throughout his at-bats.”
