James Island  9     Fort Dorchester 8

James Island outlasted Fort Dorchester 9 to 8 on Wednesday in a high scoring battle fueled by a huge day from Taj Marchand.  Marchand launched two home runs and drove in three, including the go ahead shot in the sixth that proved to be the difference.  The Trojans built an early lead, saw it erased, then responded late to take control again.  James Island finished with 14 hits and held on down the stretch to secure the win.

Taj Marchand, 2026, SS, James Island

Ole Miss Commit, Marchand with one of the more impressive nights you will find on the baseball field.  Did it in all ways to help his team win and showed why hes one of the best players in the country!!!  3-4 on the night with 2 homeruns and a double with his second homerun being the go ahead run in the top of the 6th inning.  Then came in and close out the game in the bottom of the 7th with the tying run on first.  Punched the 1st two batters out before the runner was thrown out at 2B trying to steal.  FB was 88-90 T91 mph and a CB at 73 mph.  Strong physical and athletic frame with all the tools to be a high draft pick this summer and obviously performing at an extremely high level.  Carries himself with confidence and such a fun player to watch!!
