The 2026 high school baseball season is underway and, as usual, excitement is present throughout Minnesota. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across the North Star State.

Each week we will be releasing our Power Rankings, Scout Blog, Diamond Notes, and Player of The Week, covering all the bases. Today, we look at the scores from our teams in our Power Rankings.

NOTES

+ No. 1 Mounds View keeps finding ways, moving to 9-0 with a 2-1 win over Woodbury. Locked at one in the fifth, Cooper Caligiuri (2026, C/RHP, Uncommitted) delivered the go-ahead knock, bringing home RJ Madison (2027, OF, Uncommitted). Sawyer Shewmake (2028, LHP, Uncommitted) gave them five strong innings on the mound, allowing one run on three hits while striking out seven. Madison finished 2-for-3 and scored both runs.

+ No. 2 Cretin-Derham Hall dropped another tight one, falling 8-7 to Stillwater. The Raiders carried a 5-4 lead into the seventh before the Ponies pushed across four. Cretin made a late push with two in the bottom half and loaded the bases with one out but could not find the equalizer. Davis Fleming (2026, 1B, Minnesota) and Torin Tompkins (2027, OF, Uncommitted) each went deep. Tompkins added a double, finishing 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Cretin is now 4-4.

+ No. 4 Chaska remains unbeaten, taking down Rogers 8-1 to move to 5-0. Owen Strey (2026, SS, Creighton) impacted the game in multiple ways, going 1-for-2 with a double, two runs scored, and two stolen bases. Matthew Welter (2026, 1B, Augustana) went 2-for-2 with a double, a stolen base, and a run scored. Blake Vriesen (2027, OF, Uncommitted) added three scoreless innings out of the bullpen with five strikeouts.

+ No. 5 Andover picked up a 7-3 win over Mayo. Price Caron (2026, C, UW-Whitewater) led the way with a 2-for-3 day that included a double, a walk, and an RBI. Mason Fenwick (2028, IF, Uncommitted) matched him with two hits, adding a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Andover moves to 7-2.

+ No. 6 Edina handled Buffalo 9-1 behind a balanced offensive effort. Bode McConnell (2027, IF, Uncommitted) went 2-for-5 with a double, a triple, three RBI, and two runs scored. Kaden Kimes (2026, C, Iowa Central) added a home run as part of a 2-for-3 day with two RBI and two runs. Edina improves to 5-2.

+ No. 7 Maple Grove came up just short in a walk-off loss to Minnetonka. The Crimson held a 5-4 lead into the seventh before a late home run flipped it. Oliver Taynton (2026, OF, Marshalltown) went 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI, while Preston Berg (2026, IF, Bethel) added two RBI and a run scored. Maple Grove falls to 3-3.

+ No. 8 Wayzata dropped a tight 1-0 game to St. Michael-Albertville. Grady Hague (2026, IF/RHP, UW-La Crosse) went the distance, allowing one run on five hits while striking out six without a walk. Luke Boutwell (2027, OF, Uncommitted) led the offense with a 2-for-3 day and a stolen base. Wayzata is now 5-2.

+ No. 9 Prior Lake fell 10-4 to Chanhassen. Ryan Block (2026, OF, Augustana) went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Mason Golberg (2027, LHP/1B, Uncommitted) provided a late spark with a pinch-hit home run in the seventh. The Lakers move to 4-3.

+ No. 10 Shakopee found a way late, walking off Lakeville North to improve to 7-1. Trailing 1-0 in the seventh, the Sabers loaded the bases before Kaden Olson (2026, RHP/C, Minnesota-Duluth), who had already given them six innings of one-run ball, ended it with a bases-clearing double.
