Welcome to the IHSA Daily Roundup, where our Prep Baseball Illinois staff will provide readers with scores, game recaps, and highlights from the games that took place the day before. In conjunction with our comprehensive in-game coverage throughout the 2026 season, we’ll publish this Daily Roundup to keep readers informed on the latest happenings across the state.
We obtain most of our scores by following teams on GameChanger, as well as through MaxPreps and Twitter. Coaches are also able to submit their own team’s box scores to us via email at [email protected], or through our IHSA Submitted Scores form, which they’re able to request by emailing our staff or by sending a us a DM over Twitter. Matt Ritter (2028) went 2-for-3 with a double, solo home run, a bases-loaded walk, and two runs scored. Cooper Johnson (2027; Purdue Commit) also got in on the long ball with a solo blast. He also dealt the first three innings and struck out two batters. Bryson Das (2026) came in relief and pitched 2.1 innings and struck out three. Keegan Crabtree (2028) closed out the game and struck out three batters without giving up a run in his five-out save.

RBI singles came from Gavin Swartz (2026; Indiana Commit), Lucas Beaty (2027), Andrew Naour (2026), and Luke Potts (2027). Jacob Engel (2026) drew the bases-loaded walk while Max Heineman (2026; UIC Commit) hit the sacrifice fly. Three players had at least two stolen bases. This includes Drew Stevens (2026; Valparaiso Commit) with two, Andrew Naour with two, and Gavin Michaels (2026; Cincinnati Commit) with the team-leading three stolen bases. Josh Jones (2026; Indiana State Commit) threw six incredible innings by striking out 15 batters. Riley Larkin (2027) drove in the lone run for the Wildcats.

In the bottom of the fifth, Carter Thornton (2027) tied the scoring at two with an RBI single while Landon Clements (2027; UIC Commit) hit the go-ahead sacrifice fly. Then, in the seventh inning, with the score tied at three, Gavin Polerecky hit the walk-off RBI double to win it for McHenry.

Ranbir Saini (2027) knocked in an RBI of his own while dealing six strong innings and striking out three to secure the win. The Marquette pitching staff combined to punch out 11 batters, including five from Griffin Dobberstein (2027) and six from Easton Debernardi (2027).
