Wisconsin Rankings Class of 2029: Update


Wisconsin Scouting Staff

After a long off-season and vigorous preseason circuit, we are finally updating our class of 2029 rankings. Not only are we updating the order, we also expanded the list from just five names to now 30. Plenty of players showed well for themselves this off-season with jumps in the rankings to show for it, along with numerous prospects jumping onto our radar.

AT THE TOP

Cooper Graham RHP / 1B / Mukwonago, WI / 2029

Has been a name to know since before he stepped foot onto a high school campus. Already trending as one of the top arms in the Midwest at a young age, the physical right-hander showed up a more physical version of himself at 6-foot-2, 215-pounds. Developing power arsenal with feel for four different pitches, the fastball sat 89.9 mph during his ‘pen this winter with more velocity seemingly to come as he matures into the frame. Confident in his feel to spin, showing two upside breaking balls while flashing a changeup rounding out the arsenal.

Eastin Sorenson 1B / RHP / Chippewa Falls, WI / 2029

Is a polished right-handed two-way standing at an athletic 6-foot-3, 178-pound frame. Clean right-handed swing with easy strength with advanced EVs to pair for his age (99 mph max, 88 mph avg). Arrow up athletically, 6.97-runner with twitch and burst. Loose/quick arm on the mound with feel to spin as well, high-ceiling two-way that could pop on either side of the ball.

Heath Rosemeyer RHP / SS / Fall Creek, WI / 2029

Another talented two-way prospect from the northern part of the state. Athletically built at 5-foot-11, 180-pounds with room for added strength to the frame. Easy arm strength on the mound with feel to spin, with four different and upside pitch shapes to pair with mid-80s velo. At the plate its a strong right-handed barrel with feel to sync up and repeat. Quality and athletic actions in the dirt and a strong and accurate arm for the left-side.

Robert Perez II OF / LHP / Bay Port, WI / 2029

Left/left two-way prospect and the tools have been ticking up. Athletic and projectable 5-foot-11, 167-pounds with a smooth left-handed bat at the plate that has routinely played up in front of our staff in-game. Additionally he impact continues to tick up adding over 5 mph of exit velocity since the fall and will continue to tick up as he matures into his frame. On the mound the arm talent shows in flashes with feel to spin multiple breaking balls and kill spin on an upside changeup.

Oliver Peltz OF / RHP / Whitefish Bay, WI / 2029

A twitchy athlete with center field upside and a growing toolset. Athletically built at 5-foot-11, 175-pounds with twitch and lean strength to the frame. Clean right-handed swing with feel to drive the ball through the middle of the field. Defensively plays confidently through the ball with natural routes and actions with arm strength up to 90 mph to home.

TOP-10 RISERS/DEBUTS

+ INF/RHP Porter Meach (Xavier) Is the highest debuting prospect in this update, slotting into the No. 6 spot. An advanced and physical two-way prospect standing at 6-foot-1, 197-pounds with room for added physicality. The tool standout across the profile, advanced strength from the right side from a twitchy and impactful barrel. Defensively looks the part of a confident defender in the hot corner that could play more spots along the infield with added range/footspeed. On the mound, though raw the arm talent stands out working clean and uninterrupted through release, with an upside three pitch arsenal.

+ RHP/INF Sutton Nelson (Waupun) Another athletic two-way prospect inside the Top-10. Standing at a projectable 5-foot-11, 155-pounds with clear room for added strength as he develops physically. Middle infield, pitcher profile and trending as a starter, polished and clean delivery on the mound with arm speed and whip through release with feel to spin and killspin. At the plate the right-handed hitter swings a twitchy barrel with feel to drive the ball through the middle of the field. Steady actions in the infield with body control and feel to work from multiple slots.

+ LHP Trent Demeuse (Preble) Is an advanced pitchability left-hander in the class standing at a physical 6-foot-2, 220-pound frame with strength throughout the frame. Clean and polished delivery on the mound with an upside three pitch arsenal working in the zone. Clean and simple right-handed swing at the plate with impact and feel for the barrel as well. Clean actions at first defensively with feel for the bag and an accurate arm across the infield.

+ INF/RHP Caleb Reuland (Appleton North) Athletic two-way middle infield prospect with a strong right-handed barrel. Standing at a projectable 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame with budding strength and more room to add to the frame. Strong right-handed barrel from a simple and repeatable swing with feel for the barrel. Defensively looks like a capable defender in the middle infield with raw but projectable actions and arm strength that plays from multiple angles. On the mound a clean and repeatable delivery with feel for multiple pitches in the zone.

+ Debuting as the top catcher in the class, C Cash Panosian (Wilmot Union) projecting as one of the top catch and throw defenders in the state’s class while swinging a simple and repeatable right-handed barrel. Twitchy and on-plane bat with advanced bat speed, the impact continues to tick up and will continue to be arrow-up as he matures into his frame.

ROUNDING OUT THE TOP-15

+ LHP/1B Hunter Shepstone (Oak Creek) Strong left/left two-way standing at 5-foot-11, 211-pounds with strength throughout the frame. On the mound the left-hander works out of a simple/repeatable delivery flashing feel to work in the zone with three pitches with an upside an efficient fastball. At the plate the left-hander swings a strong and repeatable left-handed bat with feel to work through the middle of the field. Comfortable actions in the infield at first with body control and feel for the bag to pair.

+ INF Casey Helgren (South Milwaukee) Is another advanced two-way prospect in the class standing at 6-foot, 189-pounds with lean strength throughout the frame. At the plate, the left-handed hitter swings a simple and strong left-handed barrel with feel to elevate to the pullside. Defensively in the infield showing steady actions and clean hands with advanced arm strength at 82 mph.

+ MIF Colin Peterson (Pewaukee) Upside left-side of the infield defender with a smooth and easy left-handed bat. Standing at a projectable 6-foot, 157-pounds with room for added strength to the frame. Simple and repeatable swing from the left-side with easy and natural feel for the barrel flashing feel to consistently drive the ball in the air. Defensively playing with fluid and natural actions with clean hands that play on the left-side long term of the field with added arm strength.

+ LHP Henri Alesci (Sussex Hamilton) Upside left-hander with feel to spin, standing at 5-foot-8, 155-pounds with twitch and room to add to the frame. The fastball works into the low-80s with feel to land in the zone, upside slider with advanced spin and shape flashing feel to land in the zone; rounding off his arsenal with a fading changeup.

+ INF/OF Chris Von Haden (Sauk Prairie) Athletic left-handed hitting middle infield prospect standing at a strong 5-foot-9, 182-pounds. Twitchy left-handed swing with feel for the barrel, the impact continues to tick up. Defensively the infielder plays with clean actions with advanced arm strength for the left side.
