Prep Baseball Illinois Player of the Week: Logan Fernandez
April 28, 2026
Triton JC commit Logan Fernandez (Mount Carmel, 2026) has been named our Player of the Week after his dominant performance at the plate. As a team, the Caravan brought across 40 runs last week, and Fernandez was a key factor in over half of those runs. He finished the week with 8-for-15, hitting three doubles, two home runs, driving in sixteen runs, and coming across to score seven times of his own for a total of twenty-three runs accounted for last week.
Fernandez would start off the week by contributing to a 10-0 win over Providence on Monday. He finished the day 1-for-4 with a double, driving in three RBIs.
He would follow up that game and see Providence the very next day with an even stronger performance, finishing the day with a 3-for-4 performance with a double, four runs driven in, and three runs scored to help lead Mount Carmel to a 13-11 win.
Last Thursday against Brother Rice was a quiet day at the plate for Fernandez, going 0-for-2 with a run scored. However, he would see Brother Rice again on Saturday, capping off the week with one of the most productive days you will see all season long. The senior accounted for twelve of Mount Carmel's sixteen runs in a win over Brother Rice, finishing the day with a 4-for-5 performance, slugging two home runs and a double, driving in nine runs and scoring three runs to power the Caravan to a 16-14 win.
The toolsy outfielder is currently ranked No. 119 in the state, and he has an intriguing toolset that will make him fun to follow throughout the rest of his baseball career. He's a burner on the basepaths with a 6.41 in the 60, and he pairs a twitcy, upside right-handed swing with his elite speed.
We're thankful for the POTW submissions we received from the coaches across the state. The players who garnered POTW consideration will earn a place within tomorrow's Diamond Notes story, so be on the lookout for that.
