Ohio Diamond Notes: Midseason Player of the Year Watchlist
The midway point in the high school baseball season is upon us.
While weather has certainly played a big part to date, there have been some impressive numbers put up by players across Ohio.
Last season’s Elite 25 Co-Players of the Year - Parker Van Engelenhoven and Matt Ponatoski - are among those that are standing out with their teams, Olentangy Liberty and Moeller, ranked one and two in the most recent Power 25 rankings.
Players like Devlan Daniel, Carter Shouse and Mack Heiber were all Preseason Player of the Year selections in their respective divisions and all are living up to those expectations.
Harrison Schneider, Cooper Bingham, Cael Charles, Koby Dues, Jake Bauer, Cam Miller, Blake Bogenrife and Cameron Moyer are leading the cause for top-rated teams in the state.
Others, such as Rocco Bucci, Drew Jones, Ben Oddis, Luke Heckert and Grady Monigold, are getting it done on the mound and at the plate.
Even the underclassmen like Jakob Groeschel, Andrew Oppenheimer and Bronson Weng are putting up numbers that stand out.
So just who are the Midseason Players of the Year in each of the seven divisions in Ohio?
The following is a look at the top contenders:
