Welcome to the IHSA Daily Roundup, where our Prep Baseball Illinois staff will provide readers with scores, game recaps, and highlights from the games that took place the day before. In conjunction with our comprehensive in-game coverage throughout the 2026 season, we’ll publish this Daily Roundup to keep readers informed on the latest happenings across the state.
We obtain most of our scores by following teams on GameChanger, as well as through MaxPreps and Twitter. Coaches are also able to submit their own team’s box scores to us via email at [email protected], or through our IHSA Submitted Scores form, which they’re able to request by emailing our staff or by sending a us a DM over Twitter. Providence Catholic upsets No. 2 Lincoln-Way East by the score of 2-1. The offense came from John Cullen, who knocked in the only RBI of the game for the Celtics on his RBI single. More importantly, the pitching staff shut down the Griffins in this contest. Kobe Jordan (2027) pitched five shutout innings and struck out seven batters. Will Quinn (2026; Lake Land JC Commit) struck out both batters he faced in his relief appearance. Mason Almazan (2028) slammed the door and recorded the save for the Celtics.

Gavin Michaels (2026; Cincinnati Commit) went 1-for-2 with a hit by pitch, two-RBI double, and two runs scored. Jacob Engel (2026) hit an RBI single and scored a run while Beckett Weber (2026) drew a walk and hit an RBI double. Weber also took the mound and pitched a five-inning no hitter with eight strikeouts.

Prairie Ridge came from behind and took down No. 4 Huntley by the score of 6-5. Gavin Piekos (2026; Milwaukee Area Technical JC Commit) started the scoring for the Wolves with an RBI double. Later, they put up a five-run fifth inning to erase the deficit. Jack Herman (2027) scored on a passed ball while RBI singles came from Cameron Davis, Gavin Piekos, and Beckett Breseman (2027) (two-RBI single). Colt Zaleski (2026; St. Mary's (MN) Commit) delivered a quality start and pitched six innings and struck out eight to secure the win. Ryder Thurston (2027) closed out the game with two strikeouts and the save. For Huntley, their offense was led by Kyle Ziebell (2026; Lake Land JC Commit), who went 3-for-4 with a double, two singles, three stolen bases, three runs scored, and an RBI. Ashton Jones (2027) was another key guy with a single and a solo home run.

Kaden O'Leary (2027) went 3-for-5 with three singles and a run scored, including a two-RBI single that was part of a six-run third inning for the Porters. David Kundrat (2026; St. Xavier Commit) knocked in two RBIs on his single and hit by pitch while stealing two bases on the basepaths. Trace Schaaf (2026; Morton JC Commit) took the mound and delivered five innings and six strikeouts, which earned him the win.

Alex Zeigler (2026; Grinnell Commit) went 1-for-3 with a two-RBI single. Rory Irwin (2026; Dubuque Commit) hit a pinch-hit two-RBI single. Jacob DeVinney (2026; St. Mary's (MN) Commit) hit two sacrifice flies in this contest. Tanner Toback (2027) was another key player that hit an RBI single, drew a walk, scored two runs, and stole two bases. Cruz Warren (2027) and JJ Stoner combined for a one-hit shutout for the Champions. There was a total of seven strikeouts in four innings of shutout baseball.

Ten runs were scored on either a passed ball or a wild pitch. The key offensive player included Bode Rohrbach (2026), wo went 2-for-3 with a double, single, two runs scored, and four RBIs. Weston Wyzukovicz (2028) knocked in a pair of RBI singles. Four pitchers pitched an inning in today's contest. This included Braden Tolzien (2026; Heartland CC Commit) who struck out the side in the second inning, and Sanjay Sreedharan (2026) who recorded three strikeouts as well.

McCabe (1.0 IP, 2K) came in the bottom of the seventh to nail down the save. With the win, the Saints improve to 15-5 overall and 7-2 in the Dukane Conference.
