With conference play wrapping up and playoff brackets set to unfold, this ranking highlights the teams that have proven consistency, built strong resumes, and positioned themselves for a run at a state title.

One final update will follow at the conclusion of the postseason, but for now—this is the landscape heading into May baseball in North Carolina.

A Look at the Top 10 — Built for May

The Top 10 entering the postseason is defined by more than just record—it’s about who has been tested, who has responded, and who is trending at the right time.

Across this group, the common thread is clear:
✔ Wins over ranked opponents
✔ Success in high-pressure series
✔ Lineups and pitching staffs built for postseason formats

  • No. 1 DH Conley (21-2)
The most complete body of work in the state. Multiple wins over Power 25 opponents and a consistent ability to answer challenges. They’ve navigated one of the toughest schedules and enter the postseason playing confident, complete baseball.
  • No. 2 Charlotte Christian (24-6)
As battle-tested as any team in North Carolina. With wins across multiple top-tier opponents and success both in-state and out-of-state, they’ve consistently proven their ability to handle high-level competition.
  • No. 3 Charlotte Catholic (22-4)
A team that has hit its stride late in the year. Strong in series play and trending upward, showing the ability to control games with both pitching and execution.
  • No. 4 Wesleyan Christian Academy (18-3)
Proven against top competition with a balanced roster. Their schedule has prepared them for postseason baseball, and they continue to win in a variety of ways.
  • No. 5 Myers Park (22-4)
One of the most consistent risers this spring. Has stacked quality wins and shown the ability to sustain success over multiple weeks—an important indicator heading into May.
  • No. 6 Reagan (22-2)
One of the hottest teams in the state entering the postseason. A strong closing stretch has vaulted them into the Top 10, with momentum firmly on their side.
  • No. 7 Providence (25-1)
Elite record paired with sustained consistency. Has taken care of business throughout the season and enters the postseason with confidence and rhythm. An older team that has answered every question throughout the year.
  • No. 8 Cuthbertson (21-5)
A team that has proven it can compete with—and beat—top competition. When clicking, they are one of the more dangerous offensive teams in the field.
  • No. 9 Metrolina Christian Academy (25-4)
Continues to win at a high rate. The schedule saw an increase in high end opponents late. The uptick in competition could prime the Warriors for the tournament phase. Despite a slight dip in the rankings, their overall resume remains among the strongest in the state.
  • No. 10 JH Rose (18-5)
Battle-tested through a competitive schedule, with the ability to score and compete in tight games. A dangerous team capable of winning in a lot of different ways.

Teams on the Rise

Several teams are entering the postseason with significant upward momentum, positioning themselves as dangerous draws in the bracket.

  • Reagan (▲6 to No. 6 | 22-2)
One of the biggest risers down the stretch, playing its best baseball at the right time. 20 wins in a row to end season.
  • Providence (▲1 to No. 7 | 25-1)
Has continued to stack wins and validate its position among the elite. An older team, they have accepted roles and flourished down the stretch in some big matchups.
  • Cuthbertson (▲3 to No. 8 | 21-5)
Trending upward with strong performances and key wins late in the season. Played in one of, if not the toughest, league in NC, the Cavs could be ready to make another deep run in 2026.
  • Cardinal Gibbons (▲6 to No. 12 | 17-5)
Reestablishing itself with a strong finish and the ability to compete with top teams. There was a bit of a bump in the road several weeks back, but Gibbons looks to have righted their ship.
  • Gaston Christian (▲5 to No. 17 | 21-2)
One of the best records in the state and continues to climb heading into postseason play. When they are able to matchup best on best, they have come out on top. The depth may be tested in the tournament format, but if they can play from ahead and be the aggressor, they will be a tough out.
  • West Stanly (▲1 to No. 20 | 23-2)
Continues to win consistently and carry momentum forward. Looking to make another deep run in 2026, the Colts have an older team with multiple high-end options at the front of the rotation.
  • Providence Day (NEW to No. 24 | 19-5-1)
Enters the rankings late with a strong resume and postseason potential. The Chargers have big arms on the front. They have run through a very tough conference with good results. They are ready for anything they may see in the post-season.
  • Hunt (NEW to No. 25 | 19-3)
Breaks into the Power 25 with a strong record and consistent performance. Several key wins and the Trojans have dominated teams they are supposed to. A legitimate ace on the front end sets them up well.

These teams are peaking at the right time, making them dangerous opponents in a playoff setting.

Teams to Watch in the Postseason

While the rankings provide a snapshot, the postseason often rewards teams that get hot late, pitch well, and execute in tight games.

Teams like:

  • Wake Forest (18-4) — battle-tested despite a drop in ranking. High powered offense.
  • Laney (15-7) — proven against top competition. They know how to win in May.
  • Marvin Ridge (17-9) — capable of big wins. Toughest schedule in the state… maybe.
  • Alexander Central (22-3) — strong record with consistency. Solid depth on the mound.

All have the tools to outperform their ranking in a playoff run.

Just Outside the Power 25

The depth of baseball across North Carolina is evident with several strong teams just outside the rankings:

  • Hickory Ridge (23-2)
  • Heritage (21-5)
  • Ardrey Kell (21-5)
  • Southern Lee (24-3)

Each brings a resume worthy of consideration and could make noise in the postseason.
