2026 WA Scout Blog - Kamiakin, Southridge, Monroe, Stanwood
May 4, 2026
The 2026 Washington Scout Blog provides information and scouting notes from Prep Baseball staff during the WIAA season. The running blog will feature information on underclass prospects, unsigned seniors, draft prospects and other notable performers. The Scout Blog is compiled of content and information gathered only from Prep Baseball staff. All featured games in the Scout Blog were attended by staff.
Late last week, Prep Baseball Washington travelled to the Tri-Cities for a great doubleheader matchup. Power 25 side Kamiakin took both games from a talented Southridge side, with offensive contributions up and down the lineup. That same day, we also had a look at some quality arms as Monroe faced off against Stanwood. Below are scouting notes on standout players from both games.
Kamiakin vs. Southridge (5.1.26)
Kamiakin
'26 INF/RHP Zach Vega (Gonzaga Commit)
The dynamic two-way talent has been dominant in recent years on the mound for the Braves, and it was clear to see why from the jump on Friday. Vega cruised through much of his start in this look, going the distance with a 7 inning CG on just 97 pitches. The medium framed righty worked through a longer, whippy arm path with life on all his offerings, with the fastball sitting 88-91 MPH. Vega leaned on his slider heavily as a putaway pitch, sitting 79-83 MPH, and mixed in a CH regularly as his third offering. The Gonzaga commit was in total control beginning to end in this one, with a final line of 7 IP, 3 H, R, BB, 10 K. He also 2 hits in each game played offensively, showing barrel control to the pull side.

'26 INF/RHP Taron Carlson (Washington State Commit)
The other exceptional D-1 arm that threw in the doubleheader, Carlson worked deep into game 2 with a dominant outing on the mound. The medium-framed righty looks physically filled out and mature beyond his peers, moving with a smoothness and confidence in all facets of his game. The fastball had some sinking action at times and flatter, riding action at other times, sitting 88-90 MPH. Carlson mixed in all four of his pitches with a sharp SL, a firm CH and a 11/5 CB thrown at various points. Carlson looks to be a potential starter at the next level with the quality command and diverse arsenal shown. At the dish, the senior has been a total force as well, slugging 6 HR's to lead the MCC as of last week. Carlson went 2-3 with 2 runs in G1 and added 2 more hits in G2, displaying a balanced approach with power to the big part of the field. The senior is putting together an exceptional final spring and will be a difference maker come playoff time.

'27 INF/RHP Tanner Davis (Washington Commit)
The Future Games alum has been working through a minor injury and DH'ed in this look, but still managed to display the tools at a high level. Davis led off for Kamiakin and was an on-base machine, reaching 4 times on the afternoon with 2 runs and 2 RBI overall. The lean, wiry-athletic frame hits to all fields with a line drive approach, moving a flatter barrel through the zone with sudden speed. Davis has game-changing speed and baserunning instincts with an aggressive style of play between the lines. He's also run a fastball into the upper 80's in previous looks. Davis will be a critical piece to Kamiakin's playoff hopes down the stretch.
'29 OF Toren Woodhouse (Uncommitted)
Any time a freshman is hitting in the middle of the order and playing CF, it will certainly turn some heads. Add this to the fact that Kamiakin already boasts one of the more talented rosters in the state, and it made the look from Woodhouse that much more impressive. The young prospect looked the part in all aspects of his game and will be a name to circle in years to come. The tall, lanky frame moved with fluidity and longer strides to cover ground in center with developing arm strength. At the dish, Woodhouse moves well with a shorter, direct path and abbreviated finish. Woodhouse went 2-3 with a run, RBI and a walk in G1 before adding another hit and RBI in G2, solidifying his great afternoon.

'26 C Crew Miller (Washington State Academic Commit)
It was a great day for the Kamiakin offense as a whole, and Miller was in the middle of the action across both games. The senior slugged 2 doubles and 4 hits overall. Miller sets in a balanced setup from the right side, moving a quick bat through the zone and collecting hits to the pull side all night long. Miller also did well to handle the higher velocity arms behind the plate, providing a veteran presence that will be key heading into playoff scenarios.
Southridge
'28 1B Trey Holdren (Uncommitted)
In what was a quiet afternoon for the Southridge offense as a whole, Holdren still managed to look the part of an impact bat. The sophomore collected a pair of hits in game two, staying on a pitch off the plate away for a single to center and later adding another pull side single as well. Holdren carries big time bat speed and power potential to the middle of the field and pull side, and saw very few fastballs to hit as a result. The lefty sets in an open stance with a powerful forward move and loft at impact. Defensively, Holdren had a couple of tough breaks but typically can make the routine play with sure hands at 1B. The lefty has been on a tear this spring, hitting .446 with 5 home runs, 20 RBI and 13 overall XBH, and is a must-circle heading into the summer.

'27 OF Leomar Gonzalez (Uncommitted)
The junior had a quality showcase look at the Central Washington Preseason ID and carried over into a strong in-game performance on Friday. Game one was where Gonzalez did his damage in this one, slugging a double to the LCF gap and adding a single and an RBI overall. The righty coils the upper half in his load and separates the hands with a longer path to contact, accelerating through his finish with gap power present. A 7 flat runner, Gonzalez manned CF well to go alongside plus arm strength for the HS level. Gonzalez also hopped on the mound late in G2, and though he showed some rawness he did manage to strike out 7 in 3 IP. Gonzalez is the 41st ranked junior in the state and is an uncommitted bat to know.
'27 LHP Nicholas Wade (Uncommitted)
A compact-framed lefty with two-way ability, Wade flashed on both sides of the baseball in this look. The lefty got the start on the mound in G1, and despite some mixed results he gave his team a chance for a good stretch. The lefty's fastball sat 80-83 MPH, with a mid-70's CH and low-70's CB mixed in as well. The lefty worked through a simple delivery with a quick, low-slot release. Wade struck out 6 batters over 5 innings of work. He also picked up a hit late in G2 off of a quality arm, and has been a steady contributor in the lineup this spring. The junior still maintains a 1.95 ERA in 28 innings on the mound to go alongside a .432 batting average at the dish.

Monroe vs. Stanwood (5.1.26)
Monroe
'26 RHP AJ Welch (Washington Commit)
The senior was on top of his game in this one, going the distance on the mound to help secure the 4-1 Monroe victory. Welch worked through his familiar steady-paced, easy looking delivery with late intent down the mound, with the fastball sitting at 87-90 MPH. The velocity held late on the heater, and he also mixed in a SL at 76-77 MPH that got better as the game went on. Welch filled the strike zone at nearly a 70 percent clip and cruised, continuing to build on a strong senior season. Final line: 7 IP, 4 H, R, 2 BB, 9 K, 98 P/66 S.

'27 INF Mike Enrico (Uncommitted)
Arguably the offensive star of the game in this one, Enrico had a big afternoon at the plate, finishing 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored overall. The compact-framed junior moves through a short stride with loose hands through the zone, landing with a firm front side at contact and flatter approach. Enrico had a line drive single back up the box and snuck another hit by the third baseman down the line for an RBI double. He also made every play that came his way at 3B on a day where Monroe made no errors as a whole.
'27 INF Adam Manke (Uncommitted)
Manke was seen at this winter's Seattle Preseason ID - Session II and has found himself in the middle of the Monroe order for much of this season. The compact-framed middle infielder sets with high, vertical hands before traveling through the zone with some shoulder tilt at contact point. Manke finished 1-2 with 2 RBI and a run scored in this matchup. The smooth defender also showed softer hands quick to funnel seen this winter.
Stanwood
'27 RHP Steven Doersam (Uncommitted)
One of the biggest breakout arms in a showcase setting at the Northern Washington Preseason ID, Doersam was on the short end in this game but did manage to work 5 quality innings on the mound on Friday. The fluid, low-maintenance delivery held sustainable effort on the mound, showcasing a three pitch mix. The fastball held in the low 80's and was paired with a CB at 72-73 MPH and a CH at 74-75 MPH. The lean-framed righty was into the upper 80's indoors and will be an intriguing follow as the summer progresses.
'28 OF Grady Lamb (Uncommitted)
A sophomore that already hits in the middle of the order and mans CF, Lamb had a strong game on Friday, particularly offensively. Lamb finished 2-3 with a run scored, collecting 2 of the 4 total team hits. The righty sets with higher hands that stay level through the zone with a controlled two-handed finish. Lamb will be a name to know for years to come.

'26 RHP/INF Tanner Requa (Everett CC Commit)
Known for his ability to work deep into games and produce on the mound, Requa showcased some versatility at the dish, finishing 1-3 with a single in this contest. The compact-framed righty carries strength in the lower half and athleticism that could play in the middle INF at the high school level. On the mound, Requa features a four-pitch mix with a polished operation that has yielded great results in recent years. Important piece for Stanwood as we head into the late season.
