We have our weekly to the 2026 VA/DC Power 25, this one being the fifth overall update.  In 2025, the Virginia High School League pushed the season start and finish back one week, which has created some stark differences in where public and private teams are at in their season. Without further ado, we are going to highlight a few teams that have seen some movement in the Power 25. See some discussion on the Power 25 and many other topics on the most recent episode of High & Tight.

VA/DC Power 25 Update Notes

+ Atlee (12-1) and Paul VI (22-4) remain in our top two spots. Atlee certainly has the lightest schedule remaining. The Raiders have six games remaining, with only two of those games being versus teams close to a Tier 1 matchup. On the other hand, Paul VI has a series with Gonzaga this week and pending a series win, will quite possibly matchup with Bishop O'Connell for a best of three series for the WCAC title. With all of that being said, the Panthers of PVI have an opportunity in front of them to jump Atlee with a dominant week versus quality opponents.

+ Another team in conversation for the top spot are the Saints of St. Anne's-Belfield. STAB has as many quality wins as any other team in the state, while they also two losses that weigh heavier than some. STAB had two really good wins this past week over Highland School and Miller School, and while both carry more weight than a "bad loss", the loss to Covenant kep STAB from potentially jumping PVI and Atlee. It was a one run loss and close game, but one that was tough to push aside. Rankings aside, this Saints offense is surging and performing as well as any offense in the state and they are primed to contend for the VISAA DI title.

+ While Lake Braddock suffered their first loss of the year last week, Abingdon and Central (Lunenburg) remaing undefeated. From everything we can see, it looks like those two are the lone remaining undefeated teams in VA/DC. Abingdon is currently 15-0 and Central Lunenburg sits at 10-0. Abingdon has a rematch coming up this week with rival John Battle and the Chargers just defeated Class 2 rival, Randolph-Henry.

+ Franklin County moves into the rankings for the first time this year. They enter at #24 and they have a big matchup looming on Monday (5/4) with #23 Liberty Christian. The only losses on the season came in back to back games in early April, with both losses being one run games. Other than that, the Eagles have been an extremely offensive group, scoring nine or more runs in 11 of their 12 games. They have swept Blacksburg for the season and their next best wins are over Cave Spring and Lord Botetourt. While they do not have a true signature win in terms of state rankings, they have a chance on Monday to solidify their place in the Power 25.
