The 2026 high school baseball season is underway and, as usual, excitement is present throughout Minnesota. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across the North Star State.

Each week we will be releasing our Power Rankings, Scout Blog, Diamond Notes, and Player of The Week, covering all the bases. Today, we look at the scores from our teams in our Power Rankings.

NOTES

+ No. 1 Mounds View let one slip away, falling 8-5 to Stillwater after carrying a 5-1 lead into the sixth. The Ponies pushed across seven in the bottom half to flip it. Liem Berlien paced the offense, going 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI, while RJ Madison (2027, OF, Uncommitted) added a hit, two RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base. Sawyer Shewmake (2028, LHP, Uncommitted) was strong in his start, going five innings and allowing one run on one hit with six strikeouts. Mounds View is now 10-2.

+ No. 2 Farmington keeps stacking wins, walking off Rochester Mayo to extend its streak to seven. Ben Keppler (2026, IF, Uncommitted) delivered the game-winner with a one-out single. Matthew Hennen (2027, C, Illinois State) went 2-for-3 and scored twice, while Cooper Fernelius (2026, RHP, DCTC) gave them five innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out six. Farmington moves to 11-1.

+ No. 3 Chaska handled Wayzata 10-0 with production at the top and a complete effort on the mound. The top three hitters, Owen Strey (2026, SS, Creighton), Matthew Welter (2026, 1B/RHP, Augustana), and Will Holk (2026, UTL, Macalester), combined to go 7-for-11 with two doubles and a home run. Kalin Jochum (2027, OF/RHP, Uncommitted) finished it off with a complete-game shutout. Chaska is now 8-2.

+ No. 6 Minnetonka saw its four-game winning streak snapped in a 9-5 loss to Edina. Jacob Musgjerd (2026, IF, Concordia-St. Paul) went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, while Carter Storts (2026, OF, Augustana) reached twice, scored three runs, and added a stolen base. The Skippers are now 7-4.

+ No. 8 Two Rivers broke things open offensively, putting up 16 runs behind a standout all-around performance from Maize Carpenter (2027, C/RHP, Uncommitted). He went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, and three RBI, while also throwing all five innings, allowing two hits and striking out eight. Drew Altavilla (2026, IF, Uncommitted) added a 2-for-3 day with a double, two stolen bases, and three RBI, and Patrick Karlen (2026, C, SIUE) drove in two and scored three. Two Rivers improves to 8-2.

+ No. 9 Woodbury dropped a 6-3 game to East Ridge. The Royals struck first with an RBI single from Emmett Snuggerud (2026, OF, Uncommitted) but could not generate enough offense the rest of the way. Woodbury is now 10-3.
