NOTABLE RECAPS FROM FRIDAY

#23 Lehi (6) vs. #2 Lone Peak (5)

The Lehi Pioneers completed a clean sweep of their three-game Region 3 series, edging out the Lone Peak Knights in a 6–5 thriller that came down to the final frame. Despite being out-hit 13 to 8, the Pioneers displayed superior efficiency and power, launching a pair of home runs by Hazen Elton and Cole Ybarra to manufacture their scoring. Brody Bauer provided the spark at the bottom of the order, finishing just a home run shy of the cycle with a double and a triple to drive in two critical runs. Lone Peak mounted several threats behind a home run from Bronx Chavira and a multi-hit afternoon from Landon Fry, but the Knights struggled to find the equalizer against a locked-in Lehi bullpen. Jake Welch moved from shortstop to the mound in the sixth, striking out four over two scoreless innings of relief to silence the Knights' bats and secure the divisional sweep over #2 Lone Peak for the Pioneers.

Top Performers

Copper Hills (9) vs. #9 Riverton (7)

The Copper Hills Grizzlies showcased their resilience in a high-scoring Region 2 battle, overcoming an early power surge from the Riverton Silverwolves to secure a 9–7 victory. Riverton jumped out to an aggressive start behind home runs from Bryce Mounteer and Gage Zullo, but the Grizzlies' bats proved relentless, racking up 13 hits to keep the pressure on. Gage Lintz was the offensive spark plug for Copper Hills, finishing a double shy of the cycle with a home run and a triple as part of a three-hit, three-run afternoon. While the Silverwolves’ bullpen tried to stem the tide, they ultimately had no answer for Kooper Beebe. Stepping out of his first base role and onto the mound, Beebe delivered three dominant, hitless innings of relief to silence the Riverton bats and clinch the win in this mid-season 6A showdown.

Top Performers

Stansbury (6) vs. Uintah (5)

In an opening-round 4A postseason shocker, the #18 Stansbury Stallions marched into Vernal and stole Game 1 with a gritty 6–5 upset over the #15 Uintah Utes. The Stallions’ offense was ignited by Mack Simmons, who lived in the gaps with two doubles and a pair of RBIs, while Tyler Hadlock provided critical situational hitting to keep the pressure on. Jaxon Wayman ground through 5.1 innings of work to earn the win, surviving a late Uintah surge led by Brody Murray’s three-hit performance and Cooper Goodrich’s two-RBI double. Despite Kamdyn Guymon fanning seven in a tough-luck loss for the Utes, Stansbury’s poise in high-leverage moments allowed them to draw first blood. The Stallions now sit just one win away from the second round, with Game 2 scheduled for this morning and a potential winner-take-all Game 3 looming later today if the Utes can force the split.

Top Performers

Pine View (6) vs. East (5)

In a high-stakes 4A regional playoff opener, the #11 Pine View Panthers survived a major scare from the #22 East Leopards, securing a dramatic 6–5 walk-off victory in the bottom of the seventh inning. While the Panthers were held to just four hits, their elite plate discipline was the difference-maker, as they exploited the Leopards' pitching struggles to the tune of 11 walks and four hit-by-pitches. Raiden Hunt delivered the big fly with a two-run home run, while Parker Heath reached base in every plate appearance to keep the chains moving including the walk-off hit in the bottom of the 7th to secure the W. East fought back valiantly, fueled by a multi-hit game from Cannon Lunt, but the Leopards' staff simply couldn't find the zone in high-leverage moments. Treyson Milne earned the win after a clean seventh inning on the mound, setting the stage for the walk-off heroics that put the Panthers just one win away from advancing to the Super Regional round.

Top Performers

Deseret Peak (1) vs. Juan Diego Catholic (2)

In an opening-round 4A playoff pitcher's duel, the #14 Juan Diego Soaring Eagle utilized a strong outing from Nash Crowther to edge out the #19 Deseret Peak Golden Eagles in a gritty 2–1 victory. In the first game of their best-of-three regional series, Crowther was the defining force on the mound, carving through the Deseret Peak lineup for seven strikeouts and allowing zero earned runs over six frames. The Soaring Eagle manufactured their offense through patient plate appearances and timely RBIs from Kael Buck and Aiden Lucero, overcoming a standout performance from Deseret Peak’s Andrew Harris, who provided the Golden Eagles' biggest spark with a triple in the top of the 7th down a run. While Beckham Rowley kept the first-year Deseret Peak program within striking distance with five solid innings, Lange Livonius entered in the seventh to slam the door and secure the win. Juan Diego now moves within one victory of advancing to the Super Regionals, while Deseret Peak heads into today's Game 2 facing a must-win scenario to keep their inaugural season alive.
