Round 2

Monday

Gunner Fokken, C/RHP, 2027, Carrollton
It was a stellar showing for the Kennesaw State commit across the board as he led the Trojans to the next round of playoffs. Athletic 6-foot-0, 190-pounds with present tools throughout and projection remaining. Looked the part across both sides of the ball as he picked up a pull-side single in the box. The switch-hitter stays well-connected and utilizes a quick toe-tap load to stay balanced through the zone. Whip in the barrel is present with great hands in-zone and adjustability in the hands stand out while showing high-level bat-to-ball skills that show often in an all-fields approach. Fokken drew the start in a win-or-go-home game as he delivered with a masterful performance. The right-hander tossed 6.1 scoreless innings-pitched with 8 hits, 0 walks, and 8 strikeouts. Easy mover down the mound with present arm speed and ability to relate well from a ¾ arm slot. Attacks and fills up the zone with ease while boasting a 3-pitch mix and exudes confidence. Fastball lived 87-89 (T90 MPH) with some arm-side run. Advanced feel for the slider and was the go-to pitch at 74-76 with late-depth and tunneled extremely well off the fastball for plenty of whiffs in-the-zone. Changeup rounded out the arsenal and looked the part of a future advanced offering. Went R/R at will with arm-side fade and depth at 80-82. Fokken will be a significant piece for the Trojans playoff run and the two-way profile seemingly continues to grow with each look at the junior.

Caleb Hudson, OF, 2027, Carrollton
The junior OF continues to stake his claim as one of the top uncommitted ‘27s in the state. Loads of athleticism and twitch litter the 5-foot-10, 175-pound frame with loud tools across the board. Consistently sets the tone out of the lead-off spot as he picked up a pair of knocks to both the backside and the pull-side including a clutch insurance run late in the game. Quiet lower half stands out with active, loose hands pre-pitch and transfers weight well through the zone. Highest-level bat-to-ball skills backed by present hand/bat speed and barrel lives in the zone from a compact path with excellent feel for the zone. Plate coverage shows often with an immense ability to cover all parts of the plate extremely well in an advanced all-fields approach. Impact glove in centerfield with potential for a plus profile down the line. Tremendous ability to track balls in both gaps as range stands out backed by plus foot speed and instincts alike. It’s a high-floor profile that holds p4 upside and then some with still plenty more to project.

Wednesday

Cayden Dimitri, OF, 2028, Harris County
It was a fantastic showing in the box for Dimitri as he paced the Tigers to a 9-6 victory in game two of the series. Wiry 6-foot-2, 150-pounds with plenty more to project and present two-way tools. Went 4-for-4 in the box with 4 extra-base hits including 2 doubles, 2 triples, 2 RBI’s, and 3 runs scored. Shows good balance and rhythm to the swing with hand speed present to find solid contact across multiple parts of the zone. Balanced load and stays compact through the zone with strong bat-to-ball skills to match. Barrel control in-zone stands out with the ability to create leverage and use the entire field well. Dimitri holds a solid floor and could tap into plenty more within the coming months.
