O'Hare Rising Stars ID: Takeaways & Statistical Analysis
May 1, 2026
On Wednesday, April 22nd, the Prep Baseball Illinois staff traveled to the Bo Jackson Sports Dome in Bensenville, IL, for the O'Hare Rising Stars ID. This event, like all Rising Stars events this spring, serve as an open identifier into the state's 2030 and 2031 graduates, providing our staff an early look at the area's top players as they continue to progress as prospects.
These early Rising Stars events also serve as key identifiers for future invite-only events, including the Prep Baseball Junior Future Games and the Illinois Rising Stars Game coming on Tuesday, June 2nd.
Today we take a look at a couple of the standouts, as well as breakdown the top statistical performers from the day with our “Statistical Analysis” below.
TAKEAWAYS
Like all of our spring Rising Stars events, the O’Hare Rising Stars was full of a number of highly-interesting young prospects who are bound to make a name for themselves in a few years when they work their way through the high school ranks.
C/INF Ryan Burns (Huntley, 2031) was one of the top seventh graders we saw on the entire spring circuit. For his age, he is highly-athletic and dynamic behind the plate, playing with an ultra-quick release and loose, quick arm. He also has a loose, right-handed swing with all kinds of upside to his game.
2030s Caden Busch (Joliet Catholic), Christopher Morrison (Providence Catholic), Giovanni Qualtier (Joliet Catholic), Chase Harer (St. Viator) and Matthew Salah (Maine South) took some of the top BP rounds on the day with well-above average present ability and high ceilings to go along with it.
OF/LHP Colton Stillwell (Benet, 2030) is a high-waisted, left/left two-way prospect who is a smooth mover with a clean arm and upside to all parts of his game.
RHP/OF Jack Story (Maine South, 2030) was one of the more physical prospects in attendance with advanced tools for his age and features a lot to like on the mound.
There were a number of other 2030s and 2031 who are bound to be high-follows down the road and earned invites to the upcoming Illinois Rising Stars Game in early June.
