Rising Stars on the Radar: 2029 SS Chase Hallett (Pennington)

Nathan Goranson
Northeast Scout

Hallett is the second overall player in New Jersey’s 2029 class and is nationally ranked 24th. He is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound athlete that is continuing to refine his game each time our staff sees him play. The freshman has an advanced and mature approach at the plate with an elite swing that helped earn him a Mercer County Carpenter Cup selection.

Offensively, Hallett put together an impressive freshman campaign where he had the lead-off spot locked down the entire season where he put together multiple quality at bats each game. He posted a .400 AVG with 38 hits, 9 doubles, 1 triple, 1 homerun, 16 stolen bases, and 33 runs. At the plate he is a controlled mover with quiet movements that create a connection between his upper and lower body where he is able to effortlessly and efficiently drive the baseball on the barrel. He has shown the ability to use the entire field where he can recognize spin and flick the baseball to the opposite field with authority.

Defensively, the 6.8 runner has first step quickness, lateral range, and efficient routes to the baseball where he can make plays in the hole and up the middle. He has flashed advanced fielding mechanics with soft hands, quiet feet, and proper posture putting himself into good positions to make all possible throws. The freshman throws 85 mph across the infield while maintaining composure and throwing accuracy. High-level defender potential.

Overall, Hallett is a must see Northeast prospect that plays well beyond his years. The middle infielder with 6.8 speed, mature hitting approach, high-level swing, and advanced defense has the makings of a high-level prospect.
