Arkansas Call of 2027 Rankings Update: Pre-Summer Edition

The 2026 Arkansas high school baseball season has just come to an end. The Prep Baseball Arkansas staff has made an update to the Natural State’s 2027 rankings before the Juniors head into the summer going into their Senior year.

We have a modest update following the 2026 season, there have been minor and a couple of major changes throughout the rankings following some standout performances at our during the season. 

Below, we take a deeper dive into this update, highlighting the top of the rankings while also providing a broader look at the class as a whole, including newcomers and names on the rise. Read on for the full breakdown.


Risers

Brooks Baxendale SS / 3B / Har-Ber, AR / 2027

Baxendale is our first riser after putting on an impressive performance at the plate during the 2026 season. The Junior played a big part in Har-Ber's State Championship run as he hit .384, driving in 34 runs, while collecting 12 doubles, and left the yard 3 times. The power hitting first baseman shows signs of being one of the top players in the class as he showcases a solid poise at the plate and came up in big situations for the Wildcats on a consistent basis. Look for him to continue his success as Har-Ber looks to repeat their success next season. 

Rogan Tyler C / 3B / Brookland, AR / 2027

Catcher who is committed to Walters State Community College and played a major role in his team’s run to the State Championship. Known for his consistent leadership behind the plate, he handled pitchers well, communicated game plans, and managed the opposing offense with strong defense. Offensively, he contributed with timely at-bats and key production when it mattered most. His calm presence, work ethic, and ability to impact both sides of the game helped propel his team deep into the postseason and ultimately to the championship.

Grant Alderson RHP / 1B / Fayetteville, AR / 2027

He is a highly promising pitcher who returned to action after an injury and immediately made an impact for his team. Back on the mound, he showed his ability to compete at a high level right away, especially with his fastball reaching up to 91 mph. His stuff plays with real command and intensity, and he looks poised to be a major difference-maker in the next season. Coaches and teammates should expect him to build on this momentum as he continues to ramp up and develop into a high-level arm.

Calloway Gum SS / 3B / Shiloh Christian, AR / 2027

He is a left-handed hitting infielder who had a standout season, hitting over .400 at the plate and driving in 29 runs. He consistently delivered timely production, giving his team an offensive spark in key moments. In addition to his bat, his role in the infield helped stabilize games and support overall team success. His mix of high-level hitting, run production, and day-to-day impact made him a major reason his team had the kind of season it did.

Clayton Ballard LHP / OF / Beebe, AR / 2027

He is a left-handed pitcher who had a standout season on the mound, showing consistent command, strong competitiveness, and the ability to control games. His performance earned him one of our Player of the Week honors, recognizing the impact he made throughout the week and all season long. As he comes out of the 2027 class, he looks like a promising, high-ceiling arm with the tools to continue developing and becoming a difference-maker at the next level.
