PBKC Evolution Series: In Review
May 12, 2026
Our 2nd marquee youth event in the PBKC Circuit has come to a close following the finish of the Evolution Series. The near 150 teams spread throughout 12 divisions all brought their best into this weekend in an effort to claim a banner on Sunday and below will feature all 12 champions as well as the finalists in their respective division. To lead things off, let's take a peak into the stars of the action with my Evo Series Standouts.
2030 C Leo Guastello (Old School Ducks - Williams): Guastello's stocky 5'8, 175 frame carries with it a ton of present strength while also being one of if not the most athletic player on the field at any given time. The 2030 backstop put on a blocking and recieving clinic in his 3 starts behind the dish accompanying a top end arm to halt the run game. At the plate, Guastello has a mature approach, patient with solid awareness of the zone before getting his A swing off with consistency. the young catcher stays into the ground well, producing violent rotation and bat speed through the zone with feel to elevate to the pull side. If Guastello can continue to find ways to improve on the baseline tools he's accumulated this will be a name to circle for years to come.
2030 INF Julius Walston (SPY-Wolfpack - Egelston): Walston has been a consistent producer in the middle of the Wolfpack lineup and after their jump from D2 into the D1 ranks has continued to find himself leading the offense. Walston finished with a .714 OBP on the weekend including a multi hit bout on Sunday. The approach is clear from the RHH as he wastes no time attacking fastballs in the zone and does so with great success. The bat control is evident with an ability to grind out at bats until he gets a pitch to do damage with. Walston's athletic 5'11 frame carries some projection with plenty of room to fill out making him one of the higher ceiling players in the PBKC circuit as he continues to add to the frame and learn how to control it.
2030 OF Vince Fuhrken (Building Champions - Pena): Fuhrken's offensive production has steadily improved from weekend to weekend, the Evolution Series being no exception. The young outfielder logged a pair of multi-hit games in pool play and delivered a leadoff triple to spark a 6th inning comeback for Building Champions to propel them into the championship bout. Furhken also finds himself as one of the best outfield defenders roaming the grass in the PBKC circuit with plenty of speed and a knack for getting a strong read off the bat on fly balls. If the bat to ball skill can continue on the path it's been on, look for Furhken to make an impact with Mill Valley next spring.
2030 UTL Avery Box (Inside Edge - Elliott): Box made a big impact on the IE - Elliott offense this weekend reaching in all 7 of his plate appearances on their 3 game set in the evolution series. Box shows off a patient approach with the ability to fight while down in the count and spray the ball from line to line. Box found himself with a start in the infield, outfield, and on the hill showcasing his versatility as an athlete. As he continues to tap into his frame, the young athlete will continue to make strides both at the plate and in the field. Box finds himself as one to watch as we wind down the youth circuit at PBKC.
2030 INF/RHP Greyson Wilson (Prime 27:17 Black): The multi sport athlete continues to slip more and more into "baseball mode" as the Spring progresses with the Evolution Series being no exception. Wilson reached base at a .615 clip at the dish including a pair of multi hit games at the dish while logging 8 innings of 2 run ball on the hill including 12Ks to 2BBs. At the plate, the RHH showcases the ability to get the barrel to pitches in all four quadrants while possessing the speed to hunt for extra bases with consistency. On the mound, Wilson's pitch ability continues to develop from weekend to weekend with a firm mid to high 7's fastball. When talking about the highest ceilings for baseball players in the KC area, Wilson is starting to become a must mention in the conversation.
