Prep Baseball Illinois Player of the Week: Brady Cunningham
May 5, 2026
Brady Cunningham (2027, Texas A&M) is our latest Player of the Week, finishing the week at the plate 7-for-11 with a double, a triple, two home runs, four walks, ten RBIs and nine runs scored. He was a major factor in helping Brother Rice finish the week with a perfect 4-0 record, winning four pivotal conference games in the Chicago Catholic League.
The Texas A&M commit started off the week by helping to score five of the nine runs against Loyola Academy. He finished the day with two extra bases in his 2-for-3 performance, hitting a triple, a home run, driving in three and scoring two runs.
Cunningham would see Loyola again the very next day and came back with an even stronger performance, finishing the day with a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate. He hit another home run, collecting four RBIs and coming across to score three times en route to a dominant 14-2 win.
Thursday would see Brother Rice take on the first game against St. Rita, where Cunningham would finish the day 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, collecting two RBIs and two runs scored.
The junior would again see St. Rita on Saturday, putting up a 1-for-2 performance with two walks, an RBI, and two runs scored. Cunningham would also get the start on the mound, going three innings, giving up three hits, two walks, allowing an earned run and striking out seven to help cap off an undefeated week for the Crusaders.
One of the top players in the entire country, Cunningham is currently our No. 3 player in the state and also ranked No. 59 overall in the nation. At 6-foot-3, 225-pounds, he is an imposing player and possesses some of the best power/speed combinations in the country. The future Aggie was up to a 109 max EV earlier this winter, which pairs well with his 6.52 sixty time. The sky is the limit for Cunningham, and we are looking forward to continuing to track him throughout the rest of his high school career.
We're thankful for the POTW submissions we received from the coaches across the state. The players who garnered POTW consideration will earn a place within tomorrow's Diamond Notes story, so be on the lookout for that.

Scouting Report
Texas A&M commit, currently ranked No. 3 in the state, No. 59 nationally. Physically imposing 6-foot-3, 225-pound frame, broad shoulders with proportionate strength throughout. Started at third and hit out of the three-hole, nothing to show for it but was on the barrel deep to center and was robbed of extra bases with a great defensive play. Right-handed hitter with a simple and controlled load, tight turns through the zone with a short and strong swing, ball jumps off the bat with a flick of the barrel, premium power and even more to come. Steady defender at third, made a tough play deep in the hole to his backhand, set his feet to deliver a strong throw across to get the runner, profiles on the corners of the infield with sure-handed actions and a strong arm.
